Silk to egg, no jacket handling

Postby Richard Tremblay » June 6th, 2022, 11:38 pm

Hi!
I have been doing Ammar's handling of the silk to egg with sucker explanations for 30+ years.

I have a series of summer shows coming up and I would like to find a handling that does not requires wearing a jacket. I will wear a vest with my sleeves rolled-up.

If you could direct me toward such handling (with the sucker ending), I would appreciate.

Thank you in advance.

Richard

Are you able to work out of your trouser pockets?

If so, "The Encyclopedia of Egg Magic" has a bunch of silk to egg sucker routines that might work for you, starting on page 193

Good luck!

I think there may be some no pocket methods as well in that section.

Thanks! I was not even aware that there was an Encyclopedia of Egg Magic!

I would prefer a non pocket handling.

You can do the standard routine out of a box instead of the pocket. Put confetti or your wand in the box. Switch the gaff in and out of the box as you explain the trick.

If possible it is worth keeping the handling you are used to and just wear a lighter jacket. Changing the handling of a routine you have been doing professionally for years - which you can do in your sleep - can affect the timing, rhythm and flow.

A one egg, no pocket solution

There are a few handlings like that in print, and a good way to stumble upon them is to list the intersection of the "silk to egg" and "thumb tip" categories with the ADVANCED SEARCH.

Jim Gerrish recently published his "Sunny Up" in The Wizards' Journal #46-09. No jacket is needed.

In addition, his "There's an Egg in Your Hat" from our Mini-Mysteries Magic Book 4 contains his methods for using an ordinary kid's hat instead of an egg bag, and includes his "Broken and Restored Egg" trick as a bonus. Again, no jacket is needed.
