Jean Faré / Earl Nelson Chip routine
Hi,
Long time ago, I saw Jean Faré demonstrate and sell an chip routine where 4 green chips were laid down in a Vernon T formation then were made to change colour to orange one by one. the routine combines double face chips and shells and I remember one of the changes used Roger Klause "Sun and Moon" technique (from Richard's Almanac). Jean Faré mentioned his routine being a variant of an Earl Nelson routine.
I since purchased Jean's routine with props and explanations (in French language) but I struggle at a couple of points.
Do anybody knows about this routine and if it has been published somewhere ?
Thanks and regards

Hi Philippe,
Thanks for your proposal but being native French speaker, this is not the language that is an issue but there is a specifc movement in the routine that I cannot get from the description. I was hopping to find somebody else who practiced the routine or knew about the Earl Nelson version (if it is actually existing) to be able to help me.
I can still send you the excerpt hopping that you can help me.
Thanks and regards

If you can find (in english) Porper Chips marketed in 2004, may be there is the explaination because in the Ad, we can read:
The routine, performed by Earl Nelson in the full-color photo instructions, is a gem! Comes with a set of four precision-made chips, the special gimmick and a leather carrying case. All for $68.00, postpaid! (10.1179)

There is video of Paul Wilson performing a handling of the Porper chips trick. I don’t know whether it’s similar to the Fare routine, but it might use the same move you’re asking about?

Hi all,
Thanks for your replies.
There is obviously a connection between the Jean Fare routine and the one using Porper chips as performed by Paul Wilson even if the Fare routine is mostly performed on the table and only include one colour change instead of three. The move I am struggling with may be done by Paul Wilson in the hands while Jean Fare was doing it on the table.
Br,

And for those who read English, but not French, the excerpt states:
Jean was not a creator at heart. However, he marketed with Earl Nelson a trick they had called Piccadilly Chips: 4 tokens change color one by one, then suddenly return to their original color. It was effect-wise comparable to a "Crazy Card", but with tokens. This trick was marketed in France by Guy Lore (Paris Magic). Piccadilly Chips re-emerged in 2003, marketed by Earl Nelson, as Porper Chips (named after Joe Porper, a maker of luxury hardware for professionals).
I am fluent...

Yes, you used Google translator because It? He? She? translates "carte folle" as "Crazy Card" (that is word by word) whereas it must be "Wild Card"

There is an idiomatic expression in English: "You're a card," or "He's a card." It is appropriately used when someone is being silly or acting up. Maybe when the translator was talking about "crazy card," it was referring to me. After all, I have been accused of not playing with a full deck.

Philippe,
Is Piccadilly chip’s described in Ivan Laplaud’s book?
Thanks and regards

No, it's not explain and I haven't the trick.
I'm trying to ask Mr. Laplaud if he have it.
