All:
In Paul Harris' "Color Stunner", there is a sequence at the end of the routine that uses the Depth Illusion to display alternating face up and face down cards. (See: The Magic of Paul Harris, pg 44 and Art of Astonishment, Vol 1, pg 58). The text credits the idea to Mr. Harris.
For some reason, I keep thinking I had read this idea in a previous source. I am working on a routine using this idea and I wanted to make sure to get the credit straight.
Are there any antecedents of applying the Depth Illusion to Triumph published in the literature?
Thanks in advance for your help!

A question, perhaps, for Denis Behr.

Re: Use of Depth Illusion in Triumph Routine Credit Question
Be careful, Color Stunner was first published in 1976 in The Magic of Paul Harris. The Art of Astonisment was published in 1996.
I think David Williamson used the Tilt/Depth for a Triumph but I don't remember the reference. Sorry.

I find one reference:
Off Color NTPT by Ariel Frailich in Linking Ring, Vol. 59, july 1979, page 69.
Credits are quoted: Derek Dingle (Color Triumphant from Dingle's Deceptions) and Paul Harris (for the tilt sequence)

You can also use Perfect False Riffle Shuffle by Marlo in Expert Card Conjuring (1968), page 3, which is a kind of "Tilt on table"
Re: Use of Depth Illusion in Triumph Routine Credit Question
For what it is worth, I developed an in-the hands false Faro shuffle - a sort of an in-the-hands Zarrow shuffle that used the Depth of Illusion principle - for a routine called Invisible Triumph that appeared in my book Tricks. I had published it much earlier, however, in Apocalypse under the name Robert D. Michael’s, which was a pen-name for routines by Robert (Bob) Farmer, D. (David) and Mike Close and Michael Weber (Michaels), although this one was solely mine. I was not aware of others working along similar lines at the time, and as I don’t have the publication date in Apocalypse at hand, I’ll leave that to others who are interested in this sort of thing to source or cite it.
In the Apocalypse write up I (or it may have been Harry Lorayne) described using Harry’s Non-Faro Faro for the repeat (which really just reassembled an Invisible Deck) when I really used a regular in-the-hands Faro to do just that.

See Apocalypse, Vol. 09, no. 5, May 1986, page 1207.
In view of all these references, it seems Paul Harris is the first to use the Depth/Tilt in a Triumph.

Re: Use of Depth Illusion in Triumph Routine Credit Question
Aren't we straying off-topic a bit here? Erdnasephile's original question is about the showing of alternately face-up and face-down cards while the deck is in tilt position. This concept was apparently (?) invented by Paul Harris and, for some, popularized by David Williamson's flawless execution in his own routine, which I think was called "Funner Color Stunner".

Re: Use of Depth Illusion in Triumph Routine Credit Question
Steve is right, using some sort of Tilt in Triumph in other ways does not have much to do with the question, which is about a specific display/convincer sequence. I do not know an older reference than Paul Harris for that.

Jon, that routine uses Tilt, but it is not a Triumph routine.
