Re: no-tear currency
We have had no tear currency for a while in New Zealand. You couldn't do bill tear magic here with one of our bills.
We also used to have a good sized coin, our 50 cent piece, but all coins are now a lot smaller (that changed about 15 years ago). There are not a lot of performing magicians in this country, so I haven't seen anyone perform real money magic here...and doing so with foreign coins or bills would look suspicious I think.

Re: no-tear currency
I live in a massive fridge called Canada and I have to use their plastic money. I hate it. I used to do a great impromptu trick where you tear and restore a bill. I can't remember where I learned it although I vaguely remember it was something to do with Cy Endfield although I am probably wrong. It got great reaction. I can't do the damn thing any more since I rarely come into contact with paper money any more.
