Hello, for some reason I think I learned Fiedler's Flier from an Ed Marlo book. I know that Daryl had the gimmick made and it was sold under Fiedler's Flier but I remember learning it from a book.
Am I just imagining it or was it in a Marlo book.
Thanks in advance for the help.

I believe it can be found in Tarbell.

A gimmicked card (a Joker) used to force a card; the Joker is pushed anywhere into a fan of cards and the "selection" is under/next to the Joker. It's probably based on a DeLand gimmick.
It's in Tarbell 7 and is called "Sure-Fire Force." And yes, Daryl released a trick using it (with Lubor's permission).
Re: Fiedler's Flier
I haven't checked John's reference to Tarbell but am very interested to see it since neither Kaufman, Racherbaumer or myself cite it in our credits. Marlo first published his gaff in his "Exclusive Card in Wallet" in 1961. Later he published the "The Opportune Miracle" in the New Tops, Mar. '67.
Buried in Simon Aronson's book, The Card Ideas of Simon Aronson is a reference to Marlo's gaff on page 122 where Simon suggests using the usually discarded advertising card instead of a joker.
And finally, Don England, in his inimitable way, really took the gaff to another level. First, "The Geiger Counter Card", from Kaufman and Racherbaumer's Don England's Gaffed to the Hilt followed by "The Geiger Gaff" in Don England's Paradox by Kevin Kelly.

Re: Fiedler's Flier
It's not a DeLand gimmick, and it also isn't Lubor's. I can't remember whose it is, but someone definitely published it before Lubor.

The concept (if not exact layout of the gaff) has been around since at least 1928. Jack McMillan's "Prophecied Leaper" in The L.W. Card Mysteries. >> https://www.conjuringcredits.com/doku.p ... affed_card

Re: Fiedler's Flier
This gimmick strikes me as being brilliant. I thought of a routine with it.
This is probably old and trite and I am displaying my ignorance of magic history.
Open a Himber wallet and show it MT.
Have someone shuffle a deck to their hearts content.
Use this gimmick to have a card selected.
Open the wallet to show the card.
Then they will find it missing from the deck.
Maybe use something more natural than that wallet.
Buddha papers? Then all can be examined.

The single absolute truth is that we don't know.
