Traveling Hole in Half Dollar
Hi,
Does any one remember a coin trick where after a half dollar and Chinese coin change places in your own hands, you put the coins in a spectators hands. The coins don't change places but the hole goes from the Chinese coin to the half dollar.
I'm asking because I have the gaffs but can't remember the routine. Hint: It uses a shell.
Thanks,
Dan

Dan, I think I know the trick. What are the gaffs?

The gaffs are a solid Chinese coin (no hole) and a half dollar with a hole in it. They were made by Sterling Magic Creations back in the stone age.
I found one routine in Apocalypse by Michael Gerhardt called Ultra C/S Transposition (Nov 1983).
I know there's a simpler one lurking in another magazine.

The routine I was thinking of was by Paul Diamond so it's not this one.

Unfortunately no but thanks.
I'm thinking it appeared in Linking Ring, Magic magazine or Genii back in the 90s. I had a copy of it but lost it during a recent move. I've tried all the known research tools but still haven't found the right combination of words (half dollar, hole, Chinese coin, etc.)
The routine is similar to the one that appeared in Apocalypse but simpler.
Thanks again.

Hello Mr McLean.
Are you thinking of Terry Schaplow's "'Holey' Coin Routine"? It appeared in Genii, April 1990, p. 665.

Ah, Mr Lyons' suggestion would seem to be the one (and it's by Bob Farmer, no less), although your set can probably accommodate Terry Schaplow's effect too.
Both sound very fun.

BTW, thanks Maxwell. I wasn't aware of the Holey Coin Routine. I like it!

We must recognize that it is not easy to deduce which trick we are talking about with this title:

Bob might have been partying with some of his Rock clients when he named that one.
