Ok, as someone who constantly yawns when asked to watch a coin assembly (because why not just do Al's original), I decided to watch anyway and damn. I had to call my wife over.

I'm betting "surprised" is more accurate than "fooled." Despite a few clunky moments (why do these always seem to be the "easiest" moves?), I found the sequencing and timing quite cool. Particularly the vanish of card #4.

I think I got fooled (and I personally count any moment that gets me as being "fooled" ) partly because of my pre-expectations of the routine. After the first surprise, I think I also enjoyed the concept so much that I just relaxed and enjoyed the ride.

Making the props invisible is an interesting setup for the coin assembly routine. I'm curious what Miguel does with the effect from there.

In my opinion there is one fault in the routine and that is counting the cards as four - for the second time - as he has already counted four off the deck. It is over proving and looks wrong. Otherwise I loved it, especially the second presentation which is smoother.

I wish Gerald Deutsch could watch it as a great piece of Perverse Magic ^_^

Obviously it is not recommendable to do it for spectators that have never seen any "Matrix" plot previously, since it would be too confusing and less funny.

In the interview with the cameraman, he said he got the inspiration from Juan Luis Rubiales, who had a "Matrix" plot in which the cards desapear.
Miguel's contribution is that the coins desapear too!

I'm with Jonathan's remark; a lot of Slydini and Tamariz touch in there ^_^

Mike Ammar was the first to do a Matrix in which the cards - instead of the coins - come together.

See Card Matrix in Encore II, published in 1981.
