Vernon's Transfer Move
Hey all!!
Hope everyone is doing well. I'm trying to find a detailed explanation of the Vernon Transfer move with a single card. This is the version where you transfer a single card from left hand palm to right hand palm. I've looked up a few books (Card College, Vernon's Inner Trilogy, Collected Almanac, etc.) but can't seem to find this particular method. Can anyone point me to a reference on this move? Many thanks!

Hi Joe,
Yes, I looked up several of the references from that site but, there are one or two more I need to look up when I get home tonight. Some of the sources, I don't have those books. I was really hoping I could find it in Card College but didn't have any luck there. Thanks!

Re: Vernon's Transfer Move
Well, it's definitely in Card College volume 3, simply called the Transfer move.

Re: Vernon's Transfer Move
I think he demonstrates it in the Revelations videos. He tells a story of having a card palmed in his right hand and being introduced to someone. He transferred the card to the left palm and shook hands. He had no idea how he did it and had to reconstruct the method. Being natural in the moment.

Re: Vernon's Transfer Move
What you are looking for is NOT called the Vernon Transfer Move.
What you ARE looking for is the Vernon Handwashing Move. It is described in Cliff Green's book Professional Card Magic (1961).

That's the listing you should look at: "Vernon" in "Change Over Palms".

Okay, that makes sense. Unfortunately, I don't have the Cliff Green book, thanks Richard!

Darn it! I'm not having any luck. I just tried to look it up in ECT but I have the old Dover edition which doesn't have it. Thanks!

Denis,
Thank you! I forgot I also had the downloaded version of ECT from Conjuring Arts and found the Vernon Hand-to-Hand Card Transfer on page 455 just like your reference states. This is the move I was looking for! Thanks again!

Re: Vernon's Transfer Move
It's a great move to give the impression that you're hands are empty especially while you let the spectator shuffle the deck. I've been practicing it since last night. It's not difficult to do at all but you have to work it until you can do it smooth and fluid. Thank you all for helping me find the reference on this!

Re: Vernon's Transfer Move
The Vernon Transfer Move is entirely different. The left hand moves away with a packet, leaving card(s) behind in the right hand which immediately drops and adds them to the tabled packet.

Re: Vernon's Transfer Move
You are correct, magic fish. The move is titled, Hand-to-Hand Card Transfer by Dai Vernon in ECT.
