Hi folks, I'm fairly new (a few years) to card magic and would appreciate guidance on a point. I'm working on a variety of tricks that involve set up stacks, some small some big. I would like to get as good as possible at getting into these from previous tricks, or shuffled decks, or half stacks of mnemonica and so on. What techniques should I be practicing for moving cards around secretly? At the moment I'm spending a lot of time on:
- false shuffles (table and overhand)
- overhand shuffles (lift shuffles, running cards into places)
- spread culling
- faros
If anyone has suggestions on what to work on or good resources, it would be much appreciated.
thanks

Re: Advice sought for placing cards
Eric Mead's book Tangled Web has a good bit of material on managing a stack while in the midst of a series of tricks that may tend to disorder the stack (see "Disorderly Conduct"). And "Finding the Way Home" in Denis Behr's book Handcrafted Card Magic, vol 1, also addresses the topic.
