Folding Coin Repair

Postby David Kaplan » August 31st, 2020, 4:46 pm

I have a Tango folding quarter; the kind with an internal band. As I was working to extract the old band, one piece of the coin split in half.

Can anyone suggest the best way to reattach the two halves without adding thickness to the piece that won't match the rest of the coin?

Thanks!

Have you tried the rubber bands for teeth braces that orthodontists use? I sell the Magic Cookie by Vincenzo Di Fatta (https://freddiesmagic.com/product/magic-cookie/) which is basically the same trick and they come with a spare set of them

Freddie, he's not talking about the band breaking, but the coin itself breaking. And if you're only here to tout your website in every post, your contributions are not interesting.

I'd highly recommend that if you use something like a folding coin in your professional act, that you buy at least six to have as spares. If you use a prop regularly, especially one that is only likely to be in the marketplace for a few years, you buy at least two. If it's something that might wear out, buy six. Look on it as insurance.

Domnique Duvivier made a wise decision when he decided he was going to use Jerry's Nuggets. You can read about it in the October 2018 issue of Genii.

I wasn't going to say it, but I'm glad you did.
Effect and method are inextricably linked.
