Help with a glimpse reference please

I am looking for a published reference for a move that would allow me to glimpse the top card of a face down tabled deck while lifting up the top half of the deck with one hand.

Does anyone have a reference for a sleight like this please?

I've looked in Card College, Revolutionary Card Technique, Expert Card Technique, Royal Road, Tarbell, Conjuring Archive, Casino Game Protection, and Poker Protection but I haven't found anything exactly like that.

George Kaplan described a glimpse of that kind in his book The Fine Art of Magic (1948).

It can only be done with the left hand so you can look at the index.

Thank you, M. Billot! (In my edition (first) of the book, I think the move you are referring to is on pg 156, correct?)

I think the technique can be done with the right hand, if you start with the squared up cards on the table with the short end of the deck facing you. Then, it's a matter of pushing over the top card as you lift up the top half of the packet with the right hand.

Question: What's the best way to cover that movement of the right index finger pushing over the top card? I think starting with the deck not perfectly square, pushing over more than one card in a sloppy fashion as you lift off the top half, calling attention to the bottom half, etc. might help?

PS: I just looked up Fine Art of Magic on ebay---Wow! It's a great book, but why so much? I think I got mine for $30.

I haven't the english edition, I have just the french translation.

I have tried to deduce the page compared to the french edition but if you have the first edition, I think your page is correct.

The glimpse is described in the trick entitled Do As I Do.

I can't give you advices because I don't practice magic. I'm only interest in history and evolution of magic.

Why so much? Because this book is out of print for a very long time and you are lucky to find one for $30!

Many people speak highly of the book now, but it sold very poorly in its first edition.
