Daniel McCarthy

Postby JHostler » November 18th, 2018, 4:31 pm

Daniel McCarthy published a number of books on close-up magic - primarily card work - throughout the '80s. Having just snagged a copy of "The Underground Hits Bottom," I'm struck by his heavy reliance on the side steal, culling under fire, faros, etc. and can only assume the man had some serious chops. Does anyone know if he's still around? Active in magic? (I still remember seeing, and being strangely fascinated by, contemporaneous magazine ads for his books - but haven't heard a peep about him in decades!)

I met him at the 2017 Golden Gate Gathering, had a bit of nice conversation with him and bought an 80 page book from him called "Sly Glances" in which he inscribed his e-mail address in case I had any questions.
