It didn't get a very good review in Genii.

I enjoyed Steve's review. He acknowledges the negatives raised in the Genii review, namely the lack of coherence, bad writing and absence of editing.

He then concentrates on what is good about the book and the excellence of some of the handlings and presentations.

Richard, I did see the Genii review and while I thought it a bit harsh, I largely agree with the conclusions. Where I disagree is the extent to which the negatives impact the usability and/or enjoyment of the book itself.

I would imagine that the Hypercard Project is as close as you'll get with that, given the limitations of method.

Agreed - getting a pack of R/L reversed cards printed seems a hassle - maybe the left handed deck would suffice?

It's a cute trick - been a long time mulling a CSI presentation of The Contortionist - starting with the U,D,U parts in an envelope marked evidence and doing the "here's how it happened" as a tongue in cheek detective - Ie the audience finds out how it was done but leaves the who unknown.

The "warp" in cardwarp remains of interest. As a running gag it might be fun to vanish a few cards that way - fold them push though and nothing comes out the other side.

While I'm very fond of Genii and its reviews, in this case I think I learned more about the product from Steven Keyl's take.

Jonathan, there was a deck of cards called the Oops Deck release a few years ago that consisted of the R/L reversal. I had a routine using this card and sent it to the deck creator to be used in the instructions, not sure if it ever made it in or not.

This has been played with a number of times. If I remember correctly Martin Cox's routine has a phase where the card is pushed through and does not emerge from the other side. A few others have also played with the idea.

We've got a great variation of "Card Warp" by Bob Farmer coming up in the August Magicana.

Richard, Bob's work on Cardwarp is perhaps the best I've seen. Everyone should check it out.
