Cards to eyeglasses

Postby Michel Asselin » April 7th, 2013, 7:34 pm

Years ago, I saw someone do a parlor/close-up effect in which the performer was "blindfolded" by the expedient of dropping cards behind the performer eyeglasses lenses; the cards selected, eventually, where found missing from the deck and the makeshift blindfold materials appeared to be the very cards themselves. Does the brain trust recognise the effect? Who is the originator, and where is is in print?

thanks...

That's a Rick Johnsson routine which he published in The Linking Ring in the mid-'80s.

Someone with access to the LR run (you?) should be able to look that up.

PS: I looked it up in my old scripting book and I'd written "The Eyes Have It", so I assume that was Rick's title. Unfortunately, that page isn't dated, but it was probably from '84 or '85.

Not sure if you're seeking provenance or method, but if the latter, Daryl performs and explains a version on Volume 2 of his Card Revelations DVD set called Two Cards in the Eyeglasses.

I know this isn't what you were asking, but there is an interesting thematically related effect called "Card Cuffs" in "Brainstorm in the Bahamas".

The previously posted provenance is correct; the idea was from Rick Johnsson.
