Any Ace Called For- Jennings.

Hi guys, Im a long time ace addict and as such, I've tried many times to learn this effect as described. It doesn't seem to work the way it is written. Perhaps I am mistaken. I was mistaken once before with Mike Close's Reverse Logic. Mr. Close corrected me. His instructions were fine. So I'm not infallible, but has anyone had trouble learning this from Classic Magic by Maxwell? Just curious.

Is this the one with riffle shuffle work? If so, it's not described correctly in the book.

Its been a while, but I don't think there is riffle shuffle work, no. Its an in the hands routine mostly.

I just went through the routine and it seems to be fine. It could be a little clearer but it all is there. I quite like the routine.

I thought Maxwell's comments on how the routine was designed to make you pause so you can think were a little strange (or at least counterintuitive).

I spend a lot of time practicing so it doesn't look like I'm thinking during routines.

Maxwell's writing is so poor that it's sometimes really hard to figure out what he means.

When I'm back in town I will go through it again. Maybe I'm missing something. I will post back here with specifics and maybe I can get it cleared up.

Okay. The routine can be done as written provided the spectator calls for the particular ace as described by Maxwell. However, in handling the third ace things get weird. Maxwell describes how to find it if Hearts is called for, then halfway through, he says, " okay let's assume diamonds is selected"......

He then gives yo a position check. And all is copacetic provided the spectator calls for that suit. But he never goes back and describes what to do if a different suit is called for.
Any thoughts? Anyone do this routine?

The person to ask is Bill Goodwin, librarian at The Magic Castle. I'm sure he could dope it out if he doesn't already know the routine. He was very close with Larry.

I could also probably figure it out, but no time. The February issue of Genii keeps tugging at my sleeve.

In the words of James Brown, "This is a hit!" I've sent out quite a few free copies. This is a completely impromptu version that can be done with a borrowed, shuffled deck. Unlike other versions, this version doesn't require a lot of mental gymnastics -- each phase sets up the next phase automatically.

I've sent a pile more out the last few days, and it seems to have met with some acceptance.
