Looking for this card trick

Postby Phil Pearce » August 29th, 2012, 7:06 pm

Years ago, I ran across a spelling trick I liked. I never performed it but now I want to dredge it up and perhaps add it to my routine.
It's called something like "The World Famous [Spectator's Name] Trick". It was not in a magazine.
I've looked in all my Fulves books, including the Jordan book, Encyclopedia of Card Tricks, etc. to no avail, although that's the kind of book I think I would have found it in.
I remember "World Famous" as part of the title. I know there are tons of spelling tricks, and many many spelling to the spectator's name tricks, but this one really seemed neat.
Not the end of the world if I can't put my finger on it, but it's bugging me something awful.
Can anyone help me remember where that trick is found? If anyone can, it's the amazing people in this Forum.
Thanks.

Could it be "The World's Most Famous Magician" in "Cards for All Occasions" by Steve Jones? It's a spelling trick with ESP cards.

Hey Joe,
Thanks for the reply, but that's not it. Standard playing cards. But I seriously respect your encyclopedic knowledge and willingness to share that knowledge.
Thanks again.

It's not "most famous", but perhaps "The Great Rufus Steele" in "The Last Word on Cards"? The only requirement is that the deck or packet has to have 20-29 cards and the spelled name must have 18 or 19 letters.

Again, the title is wrong, but the premise fits....The Miracle Speller from the Jinx, reprinted in the Annemann card trick book.

And again with Mike Skinner's handling in Frank Garcia's "Exclusive Card Miracles".

The trick I'm looking for vaguely reminds me of Skinner's Miracle Speller. What a great trick that is! But that's not it.

I remember an additional feature of the trick I'm looking for:
If using a blue deck, one red-backed Ace is utilized somehow.

Also, I'm almost positive that the name of the trick is "The World Famous (spectator's name) Card Trick". Word for word.

Not Greatest, or Best Magician..."The World Famous etc."

I really appreciate the replies above, thank you so much. This is just an itch that needs scratching.

The world will continue to spin if I never locate this trick. But if anyone has heard of or remembers this trick, please let me know.

Thanks a ton.
