Derek Dingle's Last Notes: Good News

Postby Jon Elion » July 13th, 2004, 7:19 am

For those who, like me, are anxiously awaiting the release of "The Real Work: Derek Dingle's Last Notes", I just got good news from Rich Marotta. There was an initial delay in getting the final version of the notes printed, as he and Simon Lovell were not happy with the way the photos came out (there are over 60 of them). They took the time and expense to have them redone, as they love the material and wanted to see things done right. Rich said that the notes will be mailed soon to those who have placed orders. Wahooooo!

This oughta thrill RK to no end. Either they're not subscribers, or they don't read the ads. Check out page 18 of the July Genii. Or go to <www.palookaproductions.com/derek>. My financial interest consists of the $60 + s&h paid on June 19.

Thanks for the update, Jon!

To Ryan -- This is the work on the four tricks Dingle performed in his professional walk-around work. The book was written by Dingle's student (and professional magician) Simon Lovell and published by Dingle's friend Rich Marotta, with profits going to Derek's family.

I have placed my order as well.

Thank you Matt for answering. Sounds interesting, I'll have to get one for myself.

Anytime you can get real-world working material and handlings from a pro like Derek it's worth its weight in gold. You can make a career off these notes. Also, Simon tells me that the work on the Dingle's Ring Flight has never seen print before and alone is worth the price of the book.

I believe Simon Lovell's original intention was to sell them at $250. Well now I can afford a copy and I have ordered it already.

Met Simon at PCAM this past Wednesday (8/4/04).

He did not have copies with him as they were still at the printer.
