Coins Across w/ ring

Postby Travis » April 10th, 2011, 12:27 am

Wondering if any of you ladies or gents can point me to a source on performing coins across with 6 coins and a finger ring. I remember Doug Henning performing this on one of his tv specials.

Of course. Thanks, Jonathan. I'm a bit embarrassed I didn't realize it was Vernon. Even so, I should've deduced it from the fact that Doug was performing it.

There's also a good version by Paul Gertner in his book. Not exactly what you describe but worth considering.

Jeff, I'm not familiar with the Gertner routine. Is it same props, but different effect altogether?

This was one of the phases in Slydini's coins across/coins through table routine in Lewis Ganson's The Magic of Slydini.

I have a clip of Doug Henning on Merv Griffin circa 1978, performing 3 coins across; each traveling invisibly one at a time from hand to hand to join his "magic ring" with a clink.
He finishes w/Han Ping Chien causing three to fly at same time--Merv is stunned, and Angie Dickinson audibly gasps in amazement.

I just shot an iPhone video of that old VHS tape--w/crappy tracking after 30 years--and will send it to all who send their email addresses to:
castawaydc@gmail.com
Use Doug on Merv as the subject.

Not great video quality, but I've surely seen worse, and come on: it's Doug on Merv w/Angie late 70s

Hmm, Dave's description sounds like Scotty York's coins across with ring, as described in Scotty's "Coins" lecture notes.
