This routine is about to be released in Japan by Magic Movement. It will also be made available to the international community as a download very shortly.

Very impressive video! Are the coins employed U.S. Kennedy Half Dollars?

Also, while it's good of you to make this available as a download, I wonder if you don't invite theft of your routine by the less scrupulous amongst us. Then again, I've found at least a couple eBay sellers who are putting rip-off DVD duplications up for auction. I inadvertently purchased one myself last year.

Best wishes for a successful product launch.

When I watched the first phase, I was wondering what is so special about the effect. After I saw the second and third phase, it blew me away.

The plastic cards are great for explanations and add nothing to a performance. Running without being chased.

The loading phases looks like Ponta the Smith's on his Sick DVD.

The video gives one the method of how the first coin is transferred under the clear cards.

Don't mean to knock the product, but there is nothing new to make someone want to buy it.

But what would a layman think, Terry?

@Cotton A layman would wonder what reason you would have to cover the 4 coins with 4 cards unless it was to cover the cheating.

If it was magic, it would look like 3 Fly, Shadow Coins or The Hanging Coins.

"If it was magic, it would look like 3 Fly, Shadow Coins or The Hanging Coins."

Counter-intuitively, cover can make an effect much more magical...the egg-bag vs. a barehanded vanish of an egg...or, for the most compelling example I've seen, if you spend some time with George Parker from the Netherlands -- ask him to do the jumping rubber band...he has a brilliant, simple touch that elevates it to something that looks like it could be on a Copperfield special...

It's for the same reason that a scary movie can be far more frightening when you don't see what's coming for you, or why the right skirt can be more enticing than a naked body, or why several faiths strictly prohibit making any visual depiction of God

Once you have an image of something -- the coin is at the fingertips in this hand and it is immediately at the fingertips in the other hand -- that's it. You have given it a specific form and it will never be more wonderful than what you saw.

Once you show the monster, I can imagine more terrifying; once you lift the skirt, I can imagine more beautiful; and once you draw God, I can imagine more perfect.

Nathan, IMHO it's the cover which builds the frame for the magic to happen in the imagination of the audience.

As to using transparent cards - been quietly working on something here - the cards have transparent centers (as per those illustrations from a recent genii article) and at least one of them is a black-art card. ;) ;)

Really a matter of setting the stage and then motivating the action IMHO.

Really should also give a nod to Roth's Stonehenge Assembly on this topic as well as to that genii item illustration set. Anyone happen to recall the item and its issue (or find via the new search function)?

From a lay audience's point of view, what's the difference between transparent cards, and cards with holes in them? Or no cards at all? Is the "expose" assembly in this instance any more "visual" than David Roth's handling of Chink-a-Chink?

From the perspective of wanting to have something interesting to sell to magicians, I think this is successful. There are some very clever bits of business here that might be used for other things. As an example of magic with see-through "cards" and coins, however, I think this is a better example:

Loved the greek chorus and puppets in the background. And a little blackout too. :)
