Question about Dean Dill's Explosion

Postby David Thomas » August 26th, 2008, 11:48 am

Hi I like Dean Dill's explosion coin assembly except for the fact that it cost $1000...Do you need specific shells for the whole routine or do you only need the specific shells for the production kicker?

Thanks a lot!

Dean Dill has other work in print for coin assemblys - the explosion coin set is designed to set up that production.

If you don't want to shell out 1000 bucks, check out Dean's routine called coin explosion. It can be found in the March 1994 Apocalypse Vol.17 No.3 on page 2331. It starts as a standard chink a chink routine with a backfire, finishing off with a 9 coin production. I should say that there are nine coins on the mat in a diamond formation. Much easier on the pocket book and a good place to start to see IF you want to go the distance on the sixteen coin production that is explosion.

Check out Paul Gertners "That's Ridiculous". Not 16 coins but various sizes, great scripting, and.. you can supply all the coins yourself. Its in his book Steel and Silver (remember books?)... and probably on his dvds.

Curtis Kam has a pretty nice layout production, that involves a purse, I believe on the second Palms of Steel DVD, lots of coins.

Ray Kosby's matrix has a cleanup where you can produce all the leftover coins after the backfire phase. I believe this might have been the routine that influenced Dean's explosion.

I love Reed McClintocks, he was showing it to Doc Eason in my house a couple of years ago, and casually said something to the effect that "...first palm twenty or more coins...!"

It cracked us up..

Hi Geoff,

You would be correct. It's mentioned in the article in Apocalypse, i should have mentioned that in my last post.
