Re: Marvins Magic Tenyo??
It appears to be murky. The only one I can speak directly about is this: Marvin's Magic has never had permission from Tenyo to manufacture or sell "Dynamic Coins."

Re: Marvins Magic Tenyo??
I was having a bit of a dig around an old magic box today and unearthed 4 Marvin's items :
- a zig zag card
- pen through frame
- soft coins
- a matrix type effect
All very much Tenyo in style and similar to Tenyo effects.
Always wondered if there was any connection with Tenyo - obviously not.
I got the above items a number of years back from the Marvins stand in Hamley's London.
They had a whole host of different effects.
Visited more recently, maybe in the last 2 years, and noticed that their range was much reduced, limited to maybe 3 different effects and a couple of magic sets.
Wondered what had brought about the change...

If it has a Tenyo hallmark on the back, then Marvin was purchasing the stock from Tenyo and putting it in his own packaging.

Ahh I see, I do believe marvins version of invisible zone has Tenyo written on the back also! the casing is red though and not blue.
Re: Marvins Magic Tenyo??
I've checked the things I listed earlier and there are no sign of Tenyo markings on either the props or the packaging.
The packaging all have both Marvin's and Magic Circle logos.
The packaging for each all state 'Assembled in the UK'.
Andrew
P.S. I'd forgotten also that all the boxes for their effects had the 'magic drawer' where you could display the box empty at first before showing the contents.

Yes I think you are reffering to solid thru solid, which is the same as tenyo glass board, but is red instead of blue.

Isn't Dynamic Coins the same as the Fred Lowe Coin Cylinder?

Perhaps some effects that Tenyo markets are public domain, and other companies are able to make them with impunity.

Quentin Reynolds: Dynamic Coins is a routine using two Walter Gibson Nickels to Dimes caps.
Fred Lowe's Coin Cylinder as advertised in Abra in 1968:
CONNOISSEURS "BOUGHT US OUT" AT WEYMOUTH THE NEW LOWE COIN CYLINDER (Improved M.T. Cylinder)
Released at Weymouth and acclaimed by all who witnessed a performance.
EFFECT; Spectator holds a small brass cylinder. Performer places several of the new 5p pieces (shillinqs) in the cylinder, then hands spectator another shilling to place in cylinder, AND THEN ANOTHER shillinq to completely fill the cylinder. All the performer has to do now to vanish the coins (or chanqe them) is to lift the cylinder six inches off spectator's hand to "rattle" and prove the coins are still there. Then replace the cylinder in spectator's hand. No steals, switches or body attachments.

Re: Marvins Magic Tenyo??
Thank you Richard. It is the similarity of the props appearance that prompted my question.

Quentin, that would have been great if it were true (another important credit to add), however they appear to be unrelated. Fred Lowe was not the first person to use two Walter Gibson Nickels to Dimes gimmmicks (assuming that's what I see in the link you sent) in a trick--it was quite a bit earlier.
