Matching Bulb to Tenyo Scotty York Bulb
Has anyone ever found a source for matching regular bulbs for the Tenyo Scotty York Bulb?

I know Scotty used to switch in a normal bulb, sign it, and give it away. Not sure of the size. If you're referring to the one manufactured by Tenyo, normal bulbs are available to match it in Japan, but not in the US.

Bummer--without the matching bulb you can't do Scotty's routine, which I think takes much of the mystery out of the thing.

You should be able to order them on eBay.

I've never been able to find them on ebay, Amazon, etc. Even the Phillips bulbs here, while a similar shape, are the wrong size.

While it's was nice to be able to sign the bulb and give it as a souvenir, I don't think it's a deal-breaker in terms of being able to do the routine. People don't expect you to give them a light bulb.

True dat, but if you don't hand out the bulb, you're left with a "tricky bulb" as an explanation of the trick. The switched in real bulb just keeps the mystery going when they get home, I think.

When I was writing the instructions to this routine, Tenyo asked me to find a matching light bulb in America so that you could switch out the gimmicked bulb at the end. I did a significant amount of research at lighting shops all over New York City but was unable to find a similar bulb.

You can certainly hand out the Tenyo bulb for examination, but why you would need to I don't know. The spectator is supposed to be holding the bulb either by it's base or dangling inside a hanky when it gets moved over the deck to find the chosen card. From the spectator's point of view he has already handled the bulb.
If you do want to hand out the bulb, it's only necessary to keep it away from the deck. Certainly managable.

Identical bulbs are readily available in Canada. They are typically listed as 7 watt appliance bulbs, have even seen them in dollar stores.

Now comparing my Tenyo bulb directly to the photo: there is a tiny difference in the sphere where it meets the base, but I think it might work. Will head out to Home Depot today and buy one to check it out.
