Chad Long's Flash

Postby Kent Gunn » July 9th, 2010, 11:47 am

FLASH - - - FLASH - - - FLASH

Chad Long is so smart it just bugs the hell out of me sometimes!

For $30.00 you can upgrade your set of color-changing knives to something you'll actually use, carry with you and will get through airport security without so much as a nod.

Flash is available directly from the inventor at:

http://www.chadlongmagic.com/page8/page6/tricks.html

You can see a frenetic Chad mucking about with the props here:

This is simply a great idea. I wished I'd though of it first. If you do a color-changing knives routine but have your pristine Joe Mogar knives sitting in the magic drawer because kids have no idea what a pocket knife is or think it's magicy looking to carry a knife . . . Move on to 2010 and do this great, timeless trick with an item people see every day.

I cannot recommend Flash highly enough.

Here are a couple of normal speed demonstrations of Chad Long's routine: http://www.chadlongmagic.com/page8/page1/page1.html

This is a very clever idea, with a cool finale. Nice work by Chad to bring the CCK's into the 21st century!

(Out where I live though, it's still more common to see folks out and about with pocket knives (and larger) than flash drives--so I won't drop my current set just yet. Plus, there's just something very pleasing about doing magic with old-style hand-crafted objects. :) )

I'm a huge Chad Long fan, but I've never seen anyone carrying around a flash drive. Why would they do that? I honestly don't understand the motivation.

I always carry around a flash drive in my pocket. I have for years. I'm sure I'm not the only one. I know people who have them on their key chain. It's not that unusual.

I do carry a flash drive (on my keychain) wherever I go. And I know a lot of people are doing that.

Motivation to do so may vary. In my case, this is business related.

But what is their function? Why can't you leave home without one?

People use flash drives for a lot of reasons. I keep hacking tools and emergency class documents on mine.

Some people put their software on a usb (word processor, browsers, etc) or pictures or music so that they can use any computer.

USB drives are very popular among young people, students and geeks.

Ooooooh. Thanks Bob. Clearly, I'm an out of touch Luddite.

Think of yourself as a "traditionalist" - it is much more positive self image ;-)

Tom,

To answer your question: I'm a professional speaker. My Powerpoint presentations are on it as well as my handouts. I also use it to share documents and articles with collegues and clients.

I do most of my prep work for my classes at home but use my college's computers to print out assignments and handouts, so I always carry a flash drive in my pocket. Every single student I have carries a flash drive with them, too.

Hi Gang,

Thanks for the kind words about FLASH. Much appreciated! Besides the full-color instructions in the package, I've just put up some free training vids on all aspects of the trick- basic moves, set-up, routine, method & bonus ideas. Check them out at:

http://www.chadlongmagic.com/page8/page1/videos.html

Thanks again and take care...

Best,

Chad

I had the pleasure of seeing Chad do this live last weekend in Kouvola, Finland.

One thing that might not be obvious from the video is how visual it is even from some distance away: the colors pop out extremely well against the gray border.
