Craig Petty is Back

Postby Zig Zagger » September 13th, 2020, 6:33 am

Craig Petty, magic performer, inventor and co-host of the original "Wizard Product Review" is back on the magic scene. After a few years doing one thing or the other, he has started a YouTube channel called "Slightly Unusual" and is back with a daily dose of tricks, reviews, rants, Q&As, and more, slightly matured, but still with explicit lyrics guaranteed.

You can watch his latest rant on the ridiculous flooding of the magic market with daily truckloads of download trash here:

He has also produced a very funny, self-deprecating video about the trick RED (not his trick at all, as it turned out) "that literally killed his career." Kudos for that! Magic needs more honest trailers like this one:

Thanks for the post, Zig Zagger. In addition to being spawned by today's online "culture," the instant [gratification] download craze is an unfortunate by-product of the demise of brick and mortar magic shops. Now an endangered species, or worse yet, a dying breed, there are very few left. The shops always had such a special atmosphere. I invariably felt like the proverbial kid in the candy store. It was always fun and exciting to go in and browse, to watch the magicians who worked there demonstrate the tricks, to buy a new trick or book that you could see and hold in your hands, to meet and session with other magicians, and to attend the lectures. Yes, I wax nostalgic, but I miss those days.

Me too, Alfred! No wonder David Copperfield has literally recreated the old Tannen's store in his museum!

True, I haven't mentioned him because IMHO kids don't deserve being shoved into the tempting but poisonous limelight of social media until they are old enough to make an informed decision for themselves.
