Just saw this in today's paper.

Eugue Johnson, of Manassas, Virginia who performed as The Magical Genie, was killed in a car crash Sunday.

Sad on so many levels.

Here's what pisses me off: "Prince Georges police said a preliminary investigation found that alcohol and speed were factors in the accident, but the 35-year-old driver of the Yukon [that rear-ended the car in which the magician and his family were killed] has not been charged."

Not yet. Once the DA gets the blood alcohol reports, etc., the indictment will follow. Hes lucky hes not in my county: we now have precedent for chargingand convictingdrunk drivers with 2nd degree murder (not just vehicular manslaughter). The one who killed Angel pitcher Nick Adenhart and his girlfriend was put away for 50 years (ineligible for parole for that long as well). And we have a current case where a guy who allegedly killed a 14 year-old girl has been charged with murder as well.

Such a sweet man, and he really loved magic in a serious way. Hard to believe; this week's tragedy.

That should be guidelines for every state, Dustin. Anyone can have an accident but I have no sympathy for people that drink and drive.

According to a report on the local news, the driver of the vehicle who caused the accident is in custody. I added the video clip to my blog. We are working on putting together a broken wand ceremony for Eugene.
