Mats,

according to Oettermann's and Spiegel's "Lexikon der Zauberkuenstler" his real name was Hans-Juergen Schrein. He was German and turned pro in 1948. Besides this "magic hat parade" he apparently also developed an Indian rope trick and tricks with lightbulbs.

The German magic magazines which I checked hardly ever mentioned him, and I could not find any books or tricks published by him yet.

Maybe you want to check with Wittus Witt, who posted the video, and who is also said to own quite an impressive archive.
