Kirk Douglas, Ray Bradbury, and Escher
Douglas and Bradbury share a cup of joe in this Japanese coffee commercial. At about 0:15, there is a poster on the wall behind Kirk, and it looks like a piece of M. C. Escher's artwork. (They are in Bradbury's office.)

I do like a Taschen book.
This latest Escher one comes with a set of easy to assemble paper sculptures.
Looks good.

Heh. I've got a Ballantine books publication of The Magic Mirror and a German edition of The Graphic Work. Nice to see that Taschen are putting them out now.
If anyone is interested, The Magic Mirror goes into the process of creating the images, with lots of 'work in progress' pictures. The Graphic Work is pages of Escher's prints with little commentary (not helpful that it's in German, either...). If you want an introduction into Escher's methods, get the Magic Mirror, but if you just like looking at amazing images, get The Graphic Work.
Also, it's my birthday on Sunday if anyone wants to buy me Kaleidocycles...

This Escher exhibit running at the Houston Museum of Fine Arts through September 5th might be worth a trip there:

Their gift shop probably has some cool Escheresque swag, plus there will be a catalog of the exhibit issued.
The audio tour to the collection may be accessed online here:

I saw the Escher exhibition in Edinburgh a few years ago. If you like Escher stuff, it's like Disneyland on steroids. Unmissable.

Re: Kirk Douglas, Ray Bradbury, and Escher
I saw an Escher exhibition about 30 years ago. It was fantastic. There were incredible original woodcuts of famous works. Some had holes that Escher burned through them to ensure that the run of original prints stayed forever limited. It was bittersweet to see them.
