Michael Vincent article in Genii; Nov 2023
Thank you, RK for publishing a remarkably honest and insightful profile of Michael Vincent by Carl Mercurio. Not only is it a great read, but it helped me understand what Mr. Vincent has overcome to be the outstanding person he is today. Really inspiring and strong work by everyone involved. Well done!
PS: Two things of note: 1) I never thought I'd read the second sentence of the first paragraph on page 21 in a magic magazine. and 2) what a great announcement on page 90! Can't wait!

He meant to say the first FULL paragraph of page 21.

Yes! Dustin is correct--that's the sentence I was referring to. Thank you, Sir!

Maybe Vincent has in fact "improved" Invisible Palm Aces. But there's still a whole lot of handling going on.
(And I don't consider invoking a real Communist, Cy Endfield, as a plus either. "I was talking with my friend Ho Chi Minh about poker, and . . .")

I am as interested in Cy Endfield's political views as I am in anyone else's, which is zero interest. Endfield's book is great and Zulu is even better.

Great to see Jamy Ian Swiss is coming back to GENII magazine. I hope you can get him to pen some essays as well!

The only thing I know about Cy Endfield is that many decades ago I went into an agent's office telling him I did a card act. He informed me that he knew Cy Endfield and had offered him shows on multiple occasions which he had always turned down. I actually saw him perform though on a wonderful TV show which alas had disappeared into thin air. Quite appropriate since I think the title of the show was "Into Thin Air". It featured Dai Vernon, Slydini and Cy Endfield. I bet I am the only one here who has seen it. It was about 60 years ago.

Sorry Mister T: I too recall seeing it.
In passing I also recall seeing a few Fred Kaps five-minute silent films. Not part of this series and likely filmed in The Netherlands. I don't think Mister Kaps was credited and all the work was table top close-up card stuff. It was in the days of black and white TV, but they may have been filmed in colour.
Harry Stanley produced a couple of home-movie style films of Slydini and Vernon and possibly Endfield short. Stanley did, after all publish the Endfield trilogy.

I was actually the first magician to be seen on colour television in Britain. You are all in the presence of a historical figure in magic. Please show due deference.

What the hell is John Oates (from Hall & Oates) doing on page 19 of the Vincent article? Say it isn't so!

Here is a little detail about the "Into Thin Air" tv show:

I used to go to a bar in NY in the early 1980s with a friend of mine who was blond and looked like Daryl Hall. Quite a few people glanced at us wondering if we were Hall and Oates.

He's entitled to his opinion, but of course it's nonsense. Derek Dingle thought it was one of the greatest tricks invented, and did it regularly. Now there's an opinion I'll accept.
The construction of Jennings's trick is perfect and moves in a direct line. It's bizarre that everyone feels the need to screw around with it

Somewhere there was a picture of you and Bob Farmer from decades ago that looked very Hall-and-Oates-ish. I thought it was here on the Forum but I couldn't find it.

Side note: has it ever been considered for Michael to become a columnist in his own right and do write ups for his handlings of moves? He’s been successful in teaching the fundamentals and his handling is flawless so I could see a value in this.
