"You haven't heard of him." - RK in Genni Speaks.

Oh, but I have! The name rang a bell, and so I pulled out "Ghostmasters" by Mark Walker, 1991. This amazing book about the history of spook shows contains a chapter on Marquis. There is a lot of detail about some of the shows he put on. According to Walker, Marquis is considered (by ghost show operators and exhibitors) to have put on, "one of the greatest Horror Shows of all time." A great line from one of his posters: "See a surgical maniac amputate limbs of lovely ladies!" There is even a photo of that "Mad Doctor's Dream" skit. I don't know if the extended non-censored Genii story contains all the descriptions about is spook shows, but I highly recommend this book, if you can find it. It too cites Marquiss's alcohol troubles, including the infamous incident where Marquis just left the theater during the blackout sequence (he was waving a ghost on a fishing pole) and was found waving the ghost around in an alley outside while singing to himself.
