Bob Read

Just received the April issue with the fantastic feature on Bob Read. Seeing some of his effects explained so clearly makes me think a really lavish book looking at Bob and his approach to commercial performing is waaaaaaaaay overdue.

The Bob Read issue is one of the best things that Genii has produced... Bob has had a tremendous influence on so many performers that it is only fitting that such a monumental issue of Genii should be devoted to him... Knowing Bob, it is almost like having him in my living room speaking to me! It is brilliant from cover to cover...
Fabulous...

Yup, I think the Bob Read issue was great, just very nicely done from cover to cover. After reading it, like David, I was struck by how nice it would be to have a whole book of similar quality.

One of the magical highlights of my life was working with Bob a few years ago at a high class charity function. A true gentleman and a brilliant performer.

Is there a contact for Bob? I've been trying to find one of his books for almost a year, and I guess I'll have to go straight to the source. Any info would be appreciated. J

Received and read Read today (will re-read Read frequently)...

wonderful issue -- probably my favorite (though the Bertram issue was also major)...Genii has taken a quantum leap under Richard's leadership, and I eagerly look forward to the Dingle issue.

best,

Nathan.

Someone owes Bob Read some royalties for this.

The Dog Carrier wasn't Bob's idea. He used it with permission from, if memory serves, either Tom Mullica or JC Doty.

In the Bob Read Genii issue (April 2004) page 47:
"Bob with his famous "Dog Carrier, " a gag borrowed from Tom Mullica"
