Pete: one of my favourite moves is:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_President%27s_Analyst

Basically, James Coburn goes on the run because he's learned of the many global problems the President has to deal with and, Coburn, as the President's analyst, and the person who is supposed to help him cope, can't take it anymore, can't cope and escapes into America.

He is pursued by a long list of spies from various foreign countries who kill each other trying to get to him: the funniest one for me, was when Coburn asks a guy who has just killed another guy if he's KGB and the guy answers, "No--Canadian Secret Service!"

However, there is one malevolent pursuer who remains unknown and always seems to know what's happening: eventually this evil presence turns out to be: the phone company.

If the movie was remade today it would be the post office.

Pete McCabe finally received his Bammo Tarodiction Toolbox. I know this because after Pete read the book, he had a wonderful idea for a routine which he sent me. I spent the morning figuring the method out and it will appear in Addendum #8 to be released next week.

Bammo Tarodiction Toolbox Addendum #8 has been released and distributed to all purchasers either by email or by hard copy.

Addendum #8 is the final addendum. It has to be: the system inspires so many ideas, the addendums could go on forever. When and if I have enough new and valuable ideas, I will publish a second volume. In the meantime, let me know what you come up with.

When I began to explore the possibilities of the systems described, I had no idea where the magic would lead. Eventually it led to eight addendums, so there is a lot of material to go through. To save you some time, here are my favorite effects:

• Triharder: This was the first trick I created. It plays really well.

• Macau Casino Shuffle #2: This has a great prediction.

• Tarodiction 2: This is a Tarot card version of “Macau Casino Shuffle #2.”

• Octadiction: If your primary interest is the fastest way to stack a deck, go immediately to Addendum #2.

• Pete’s Casinodiction: A really entertaining premise with a killer ending in Addendum #8. I prefer this version to the original in Addendum #3.

• Blackjack Bushwhack: Find this in Addendum #4. The kicker here is a magic square that is truly surprising.

• Messcal: This is in Addendum #5. This is a shocking effect: a randomly mixed deck further mixed face-up and face down, magically rights itself except for a face-up selection. For the kicker, the deck is spread face up and it is in order, A to K, CHSD, with the selection right where it should be.

• Messcal Lite: I love this. You don’t have to do anything. The deck is ordinary and unmarked, yet you duplicate the effect of “Messcal.” See Addendum #6.

• Messcal Lite With A Better Lie: Check Addendum #7. This is the superior version of “Messcal Lite.”

• Tarodiction Tantalizer: Find this in Addendum #8. This effect doesn’t seem even remotely possible: the spectator shuffles the deck any way it wants after selecting a card. The deck is mixed face up and face down. The deck rights itself except for the face-up selection. For the kicker, the deck is spread face up and it is in order, A to K, CHSD, with the selection right where it should be.

The material seems a long way from the Rubik’s Cube routine that inspired its creation, but in the abstract, they are the same: an algorithm that sorts into a recognizable order and an algorithm that sorts into what appears to be, but isn’t, a random order. I’m sure when the ideas get out, some great magic will result. Let me know, please.

Bob. You don't need me to add my praise for all this original and creative work. But you have it anyway, along with my thanks for stopping with this 8th addendum. It's all too much for my poor brain, and what you've put together so far will take me months (years) to work my way through.

The Bammo Tarodiction Toolbox is a real bargain. If you enjoy the "thinking" part of magic - understanding the principles, possibilities and applications - then this is for you. And if you want something that will let you run quickly (with no real understanding of "why does this work") you will love this book. If you want a powerful tool that will let you create miracles then you need to get this book. The surface of creative possibilities has only been scratched and with the 8 Addendums (provided free of charge by Bob to all purchasers) you can see what I mean. I highly recommend BTT!

The Bammo Tarodiction Toolbox is going into its 6th printing. When I first decided to publish the manuscript I thought it would have a very limited appeal, but it seems there are a lot of people out there who want to be on the leading edge of card trick methodology. Thank you for all the support.

Right now I'm working on the next release, The Bammo Gaffus Maximus, a manuscript of 21st century gaffed decks. Release date is September and all Tarodiction Toolbox supporters will be advised as soon as it is available.

Will it be hardbound and in a slipcase?
On what stock will you be printing the special cards?
How many DVDs with it?

Same format as the Tarodiction Toolbox. No cards included but all the decks use either standard gaffs (e.g., a double-face deck) or can be assembled from regular cards. I have absolutely no ability to make special gaffed cards so all the effects I create use what I can easily make without special cards, without roughing fluid, etc., etc.

Another unsolcited rave review from a purchaser:

"There's some high octane, mind boggling mambo-jumbo cooking between the covers of this treatise. Seriously. I received my copy a couple of weeks back and am properly impressed with what Mr. Farmer hath wrought. It has taken me some time to absorb the material and I am currently awaiting the arrival of a certain something that is recommended-but-not-required to facilitate feats of fantastical mind-frying magic. Oh, and since I never jumped on board when Tsunami first hit the shores way on way back when, I find myself wondering why not... Must have been in a coma that day. Glad I got better and that Bob tucked it inside as a bonus."

If you've ever picked up a deck of cards, you need this book.

Yuki Kadoya, one of Japan's leading translators of magic, has done a review of The Bammo Tarodiction Toolbox. With his kind permission, it follows.

Few weeks ago, I received Canada’s unique and innovative magic creator, Mr. Bob Farmer’s latest work “The Bammo Tarodiction Tool Box” (Every Trick in the Book, Inc, 2017). He is the man who no needs an introduction in magic world. Even he is a lawyer by profession, he created many good effects last 3 decades like “The Bammo Monte Monster” “The Bammo Card Walloper” “Alice’s Revenge” “Cyclops” “Hand O’Doom” “Headhunter” “Deja-VooDoo” “Nothing to lose”……too many to count. His last book, 400+ pages Encyclopedia of “10 Card Poker Deal” named “The Bammo Ten Card Deal Dossier”(Magicana, 2015) became a topic of conversation in magician’s world.

His 27-year-old booklet on cheating “Beat 'Em, Cheat 'Em, Leave 'Em Bleedin’ " (Every Trick in the Book, Inc., Distributed by Magic City, 1994) also really good. (He published this booklet under a pseudonym as “Mr. Big ’N’ Fast Bobby Knuckles”. This contents-rich booklet is a steal - just $5).

In first place, I really like his advertisement for this book. Whenever he releases his works, he created really strange and hilarious advertisement as Mr. Doc Dixon once wrote like this “I feel Bob Farmer is the J.Peterman of magic”. This book is no exception, too. This book’s ad. (he uses this ad. for front cover of this book, too) that designed by Liz Kaufman (Art Director of Genii magazine) looks so cool, but we can’t understand what is effect from his ad!

In this 131 pages book, he fully explains brand-new and ingenious system for secret card sorting process with some mathematical principle right in front of the spectator’s noses really quickly and devilishly, even spectator shuffled cards really well. (When I read the introduction, one question pops in my mind - “Whoever realize that now-trendy Rubic cube magic can turn into card magic?”).

He explains this mathematical principle fully in Part 2 of this book (really interesting reading, even you don’t like math like me), but actually no need to understand this principle for performance. You just have to follow super easy card dealing / assembling maneuver, then miracle automatically happens. Period. No mental acrobatics, No sleight of hands, No calculations. You just concentrate on presentation and good audience management.

Once you try “A Simple Demonstration”, you’ll be amazed. Well-mixed face-down 5 cards (Ace to 5 of Diamonds) can sort into numerical order with quick card dealing process without looking face of cards. This demo looks like magic. Yes, I know that you feel really bored from this writing, but this is unbelievably fascinating practice session.

He (and contributors like Mr. Pate McCabe) created original 14 effects (and many interesting tips and ideas) with playing cards, ESP cards and tarot cards and explains everything clearly with his own fun and entertaining writing style.
He offers a broad range of effects - from Mock Gambling Demo, The Sympathetic Cards, Triumph to Bizarre-taste prediction. All effects are fun, amazing and really deceptive.

We are required to put secret “mark” on these cards for performance, but his clever and new marking method is really subtle. He offers all essential information about card marking that you can use for other purposes.

Yes, you need to do hustle for card marking, but you have to do this only once. He also offers treatment method for these cards fully so I believe you can use your prepared cards for a long time with his treatment method.

As you are aware, we need some space on the performance table for dealing cards, but he also offers “in-the-hands” mishmash style “shuffle” instead of “dealing cards” (this is a variation of Harry Lorayne and Lennart Green’s idea), so actually you don’t need for any table space for many effects.

All effects use not more than 15 cards, so dealing process is very quick. And presentation and clever construction of effect erase some fishy “mathematical” smell clearly. Apparently, possibility of this system is unlimited.
Maybe these effects are not suited for a restaurant gig or walk-around, but suited for formal performance and casual session with your magician friends.

I believe he and some clever minds in magic will create new amazing effects and applications with this unique principle in a very near future. All purchasers will receive future discoveries directly from Mr. Farmer as “Addendum” via email (Latest edition of this book has 131 pages included “Addendum 1 to 8” as I wrote this review in September 10, 2017).

If you are memorized deck user, he offers an amazing method for quick stacking from a shuffled full deck into any your favorite memorized deck or system deck order with this method in quite short record time - approx.2 mins.

When I start to read this section, I just remembered Brother John Hamman’s “The Chinese Shuffle” in “The Secrets of Brother John Hamman” by Richard Kaufman (Kaufman & Greenberg, 1989) and Darwin Ortiz’s “The Si Stebbins Secret” in “Darwin Ortiz At The Card Table” by Darwin Ortiz (Kaufman and Greenberg, 1988), but I think this method is much better than these methods because this method is quick, can use any stacks and no need to any setup (except card marking).

For a person who think this method still takes too much time, he also offers much more rapid men-deck stacking system in addendum 2 - just deal whole deck twice in approx.1.5 mins or less. Once you try these methods, you’ll be amazed again because these methods work like real magic! All we need is the good reason / justification for at least 2 mins card dealings.
I really enjoy all effects in this book, but I especially love “Macau Casino Shuffle #2” “Tarodiction 2” “Messcal Lite” “Pate’s Casinodiction” and “Tarodiction Tantalizer”.

“Tarodiction 1” and “2” are worthy of attention. These effects with tarot cards are really beautifully constructed and presentation that related to occultist Aleister Crowley works really well (and he offers really good advice for this performance, too)!.
I always feel not so many good trick with tarot appeared in magic - notable works come from T.A.Water, Max Maven, Stephen Minch, Eugene Burger, John Riggs, Jörg Alexander Weber, Pit Hartling, Jose Carroll, Alain Nu, Michihiro Matsuda….Not so many. So these effects are pleasing addition to magic with tarot cards category.

Through this book, one thing I can say is that we need to create good justification for card dealing process to fit our own personality. Even process itself can be done in short time. And for performance, we have to do nice and natural audience management. Once spectator miss dealing a card, you’ll screw up.

Yes, he just gives us this clever “tool box”. As for the rest, we have to figure out how to utilize these tools effectively. I believe some magicians will now begin to use this system cleverly and fool everyone so badly soon.

I’m sure $35 is a worthwhile investment for you at this point……But, hey wait, there’s more!

As a bonus, his first manuscript “Tsunami” reprinted in this book. This manuscript was long out-of-print and this is enlarged edition, so this is really good bonus for all reader.

When this manuscript released in 1987, one of my good friends showed me Tsunami and he fooled me so badly. Thanks goodness, he really kindly tip this manuscript to me, then I send International Money Order to him immediately.

Even I couldn’t understood what is the effect from ad. that printed on front cover of this manuscript as I told you before (Yes, you can read this funny and hilarious ad. in this book), but I already know this is devilishly clever and strong gambling themed mind reading effect. It feels like it was a great buy.

Unfortunately, I rarely seen that magician actually performed this effect. When lookers-on give this manuscript a once-over, it will be bored and feel illogical about performance situation. To tell the truth, It is not until you perform this that you realize this trick fool everyone included knowledgeable magicians and everything works so well.

Imagine this. I believe everyone passes through this path at least once or twice. - After your friend fool you so badly with some trick and kindly tip “The fact” to you, you rush back to home and dig the same trick that you just fooled from your dusty shelf. Then you feel bad about yourself and ask yourself like “why I don’t have good taste in choosing trick?”. I think this trick is a good example of that kind of scene.

Mr. Farmer himself fooled so many knowledgeable magicians last 30 years. He tip some funny stories to me. If you meet him in person, you have to ask this. You'll be surprised.

In this manuscript, he explains just one effect with several variations. Sorry, I’m not revealing the full effect because I always want to write a spoiler-free review, but I recommended you to study ALL methods and finesses, then you can choose suitable variation for your performance situation (even you can perform this effect impromptu). Actually, you can perform this trick twice with different methods at the same venue. Even you do so, your spectator will be no way to reconstruct this effect. This is just the way my friend fooled me so badly and author himself recommended. All I can say is “Try it, you’ll like it”.
Just so you know, some variation has really tiny risks attached - just 7.75%. However, he also offers clever fail-safe system for covering this 7.75% situation.

In fact, this variation actually saved me well several time when I faced to challenge situation at the performance venue.

Of course, this trick requires no sleight of hands (but still is not mechanical).

In this edition, he added 2 new variations and both are a very good thing. One variation appeared on his own widely spread email in all over the world dated November 14th 2003 and later appeared on Genii Magazine February 2004 as a one installment of his well-known “Film-Flam” article. This variation is mostly for English speaker, but really clever.

Other variations named “A card that lies, A deck that tells the truth” is recent my favorite. I really enjoy this presentation and this one can fool everybody.

This manuscript is worth reading, too.

I highly recommended this book for any magicians, especially serious cardmen, mathe-magicians and mentalists. You can spend fun time with this new toolbox and old strong mentalism with playing cards.

If you already enjoyed his works, this book also must-buy. If you don’t know any his works, it doesn’t hurt to buy it because you can learn some devilishly clever tricks.

If you want to get this manuscript, contact him directly (BammoMagic@cogeco.ca) because this book available exclusively from him.

Some more reviews of The Bammo Tarodiction Toolbox:

Genii Forum Best Magic Books of 2017
I'm going to put Ryan Matney's Spoiler Alert, Bob Farmer's Gaffus Maximus, and Jim Steinmeyer's latest in his Impuzzibilities series on this list. If you like good card magic, these books fall into the "must have" category.
D.S.

“I am the recipient of your recent output and recommendations - wow wow wow ... The Bammo Tarodiction Toolbox ... is brilliant.”
—J.M.

“As for books - the stand out one for me is Bob Farmer's The Bammo Tarotdiction Toolbox.
I took awhile before ordering it. And that worked out well for me since the supplements that Bob emailed out after the book was published were included with the book. And the supplements are my favourite part of the book. I prefer seeing this principle applied to a full deck of cards rather than a packet. And that is what the supplements focus on. The book has a lot going for it. A new principle. And easy to do. And my favourite trick - which ends with a shuffled deck in new deck order - allows you to do something that cannot be done by sleight-of-hand or gaffs. It is rare a new principle achieves an effect that cannot really be achieved any other way. I really love playing around with the system that Bob has uncovered. And all this despite the fact I was on a break from card tricks.”

The Bammo Tarodiction Toolbox and the Bammo Gaffus Maximushave both been nominated as two of the best books of 2017 on the Magic Cafe website.

“[The Bammo Tarodiction Toolbox is] … characterized by meticulous and thorough details and wondrous overview. It swings open the creaky door to the innermost circle of Satanic Sorcery. I can't wait to run into the fires of enlightenment like a first responder, wearing my Marlo jumpsuit.”
—Jon Racherbaumer

"I have received and read the books and I have to say, the thinking and the methodology is UNREAL. The Bammo Tarodiction Toolbox & Gaffus Maximus are clear winners and whosoever hasn't bought it is really missing some mind blowing out of this world like magic which won't just amaze your audience but amaze us. Thank you for writing these and sharing it with all of us."
—W.M.

About the Bammo Brain Bamboozler, Stephen Minch had this to say:

"Hi, Bob: There are very few mortals who can match your deviousness ...."

Another rave review for The Bammo Tarodiction Toolbox follows. For more information email bammomagic@cogeco.ca

"... Less than a year after publishing the exhaustively researched Bammo Ten Card Deal Dossier, Farmer has put out another brilliant work that delves into a mathematical card sorting system seldom used in magic. With the Tarodiction Tool Box, you can secretly arrange cards in front of spectators and stack cards in Tamariz, Aronson, and Si Stebbins order in less than two minutes. It works with a specific tarot deck or any regular deck once you code it. The system is easy to see and understand.

"... Bammo Tarodiction Toolbox also has one of the few excellent bizarre magic presentations I have seen written up in a general magic booklet. The premise for that trick is the prediction that famous occultist Aleister Crowley wrote the night he died is finally going to be explained using tarot cards.

"... Serious card workers and the math experts of the magic world will have a field day with the concepts. For the rest of us, this is something we can use to fool our fellow magicians as well as our audiences.

"Highly recommended."

Tarot rises up!

https://www.bbc.com/news/business-44471537

As the new article above explains, use and belief in Tarot cards and readings is bigger than ever. Tarot hasn't been this popular since Nostradamus was predicitng the winning nags at the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe in Paris and making a bundle on the trifecta.

Here's your chance to take advantage of this trend and add some Tarot-themed magic to your act. Sure, it's the height of hypocrisy to sell something real that all magicians know is a fake, but in case of a tie, your job is not to educate the ignorant and superstitious, it's to fool them badly and maybe, just maybe, let them think YOU are the real thing.

You need the Bammo Tarodiction Toolbox. Here's just one of the reviews:

“... “... Serious card workers and the math experts of the magic world will have a field day with the concepts. For the rest of us, this is something we can use to fool our fellow magicians as well as our audiences.

The Bammo Tarodiction Toolbox is now available as a download:

https://www.lybrary.com/the-bammo-tarod ... 23866.html

“… If you do memdeck work, The Bammo Tarodiction Toolbox is a must-have. Fans of Bob’s previous efforts and those who enjoy ingenious, semi-automatic card effects will also want to pick this up. But for me, the main selling point of The Bammo Tarodiction Toolbox is that it is only the tip of the iceberg of what is possible using the sorting technique explained ….
“… Trust me; you want to get on the TBBT train right now. The ideas explained are as clever as anything I’ve seen lately. You’ll fool everybody, including yourself.”
—Mike Close

“… [Bob Farmer] … has discovered a new principle for secretly coding a group of playing cards such that they can be spectator-shuffled and then quickly unshuffled back into a useful sequence … The first time you attempt this ... should thrill you. It feels like magic.
“… How could a deck unshuffle itself from a random shuffle? It feels quite magical when you see it work.”
—Steve Bryant

“… the tricks … are fun, entertaining, and deceptive …. The tricks include one where you teach a spectator how to cheat at cards, a couple of gambling-themed tricks that are reminiscent of “Sympathetic Cards,” some interesting effects involving ESP cards, and a wonderful, elaborate routine using Tarot cards … including a fantastic routine, inspired by “The Tantalizer,” which has long been one of my favorite tricks. Also included in the manuscript is a reprint of “Tsunami,” a long unavailable gambling manuscript that was, as Farmer says, “universally praised by those who praise universally.” I remember Michael Weber frying me with this at a magic convention many years ago.”
