Spooky Lady Prediction

Postby Bob Farmer » October 14th, 2020, 3:43 pm

I am looking for a video of a female magician who may have been on AGT. She leas the spectator into a spooky room and sits at a table. Some pictures of (I think) dead people are removed from a box and one is chosen. Suddenly a duplicate of that picture appears on the wall--or something like that.

Any ideas?

Sounds like Sacred Riana, Bob, you might try searching on YouTube for her.

Set up! I'm shocked that set ups are happening in Casablanca!

The set up is ready Mr. Farmer.

Thank you.

Since we are going for completeness...

Neither of them originated the character nor most of the key plot points / effects / stories they use.

De Nieuw Uri Geller was a moderately successful mentalist talent show that was franchised in countries around the world. After a contestant (Ryan Hayashi) in an early version of the show got successful by putting on a mask and being a bit mysterious the producers commissioned a group of writers, prop makers and magic consultants (cough) to create a number of specific characters to be contestants in subsequent versions. All were reasonably successful but the standout was "The Shemask" a female performer with a hidden identity who performed a variety of illusions in a macabre style, without talking and each of which included a key idea of creeping out the judges and making them scream on air to get tabloid headlines the next day rather than specifically because of the knock-out magic.
The character / effects / concept belonged to the tv production company and it was fun (though weird) to see the concept being franchised out to different international versions of the show with different actress's being hired to play the roll.... including on Indonesia's version of the show.

As is often the case in TV the rights to that show got bought and sold until 4 years ago they ended up in the same pool of companies that run "got talent" and suddenly that character (and another created for DNUG) and the storyline / effects have been dusted off and are now in the pool of stories that show's producers can use. It was a very surreal moment 2 years ago when I got called into a meeting for BGT, shown the videos of DNUG / Sacrid Rianna and asked if I was familiar with this character and would I be interested in creating some new material for it....

Fascinating, Tom. Thanks for the insight into how these things work.
