I am looking for a reference for a trick I think Fulves published.
You have a row of cards, say ten in total. The spectator pushes out any five. When the five he selected are compared to the five that are left, they match in order and value.
It may have been based on a Martin Gardner idea.

Check out Replica Poker, "More Self-Working Card Tricks" page 52.

Max Maven has a great use of this principle (Self-Duplicating Set-Ups) in Thabbatical.
It is a small packet version of the Sympathetic Suits that is totally self-working.
Check out Dupacetic on page 69 of that book. The construction of the method is very elegant.

Max Maven's effect, "Dupacetic," is truly a work of genius. It has so many interconnected deceptive mechanisms, it is a thing of beauty to behold. If you saw this, you'd pay anything for the secret. I'm going to try it with a Himber Wallet with a pass-through section to see how that might work, rather than the envelope.

Max is the best!
I think I remember Max saying we were lucky that Dai Vernon chose to be an artist in our field, and not in something else. Since he could have have been a brilliant artist in whatever field he chose.
The same applies to Max.

Re: Reference For A Fulves Trick
I've decided magic needs a new way to express the quality of the deception contained in a trick. Above, I referred to Max Maven's effect, "Dupacetic," as truly a work of genius (and Max has many more). The multiple deceptive mechanisms employed make it absolutely certain that the audience will be truly baffled. It is a "high baffle" effect. "High Baffle" indicates that the method for a trick is certain to be impenetrable. Of course, "Low Baffle," would mean the method is subpar and likely to be understood by the audience.
I play sax and guitar (though not at the same time). With my sax, I prefer a mouthpiece with a high baffle--that's a physical feature that makes the mouthpiece sound a certain way. It struck me that I also prefer high baffle in magic tricks, though "baffle" has a different meaning in magic. Seeing the parallel wording in my two different interests, music and magic, immediately suggested to me that the universe was proceeding as it should, at least in my part of the world.

I like the nomenclature, Bob!
A list of "High Baffle" tricks would be fun. I will put one together sometime.
Would also make a fun column for GENII magazine!
