Add-A-Number Pad

Postby Bob Farmer » April 8th, 2018, 6:37 pm

I'm looking for versions of the Add-A-Number Pad that are a bit more stripped down. I have one of the Horwitz pads, and one of the pads Ken Brooke put out, the Nemo Switch case, but these are, as far as I know, no longer available. There may be other commercially manufactured pads, but so far I haven't been able to find one in stock anywhere.

Will Dexter had one in in Feature Magic For Mentalists book that used an ordinary memo pad. Ted Lesley's gaffed pad is described in Paramiracles.

I believe that Bob King and perhaps others had versions that relied upon the Out To Lunch principle.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

A non-gaffed pad is described in PRISM.

Mac's reference is Max Maven's “Old Math,” which provides two predictions and an excellent context. See: Prism by Max Maven, pp. 111-113, Hermetic Press, 2005. This is one of the few routines, and perhaps the only routine for this trick, that isn't boring. After all, what possible interest does an audience have in adding up some numbers and seeing a prediction that matches.

Damian Jennings has a great presentation for this trick here:

That's what that trick needs: a great presentation by a very funny performer.

JP Vallerino had a nice one sold through Camirand Academy. Once closed the work is done and the audience can open it themselves. won’t find anything other than the force page.
