The Gathering for Gardner Foundation is wrapping up a fundraiser with ebay auctions of donated items.

To my way of thinking, the coolest item in it is an example of ¿Cuantos Puros? -- Adam Rubin's clever implementation of Sam Loyd's "Get Off The Earth" illusion/puzzle, in an ashtray of cigars. I saw a prototype of this several years ago and have wanted one ever since.

It really is a clever item. So much time must have been devoted to it to work out all the length dimensions for each scenario. Kudos to you Adam!

Twice. Depending on the configuration, the ashtray can appear to hold 6, 7, or 8 cigars.

Wow. That was several hundred dollars more than I expected but I guess someone really wanted #1. Glad that generosity goes to support such a wonderful organization!
