Looking for the Johnny Brown Books

Postby Evan Shuster » March 4th, 2018, 6:46 pm

Hi everyone!
I'm looking for the following two booklets:

• Isn't That Good? - The Magic of Johnny Brown (by Father Bandy)
• Go Ahead, I'll Wait! - More Magic of Johnny Brown (by Father Bandy)

Thanks!
Evan

I saw Johnny Brown work once. He was really impressive.

He was great. had best coin through drinking glass penetration i've ever seen. Did a version of the ball and cone that would bring down the house. Had a dog in a box routine that held its own against performances by some of the greatest magicians in the world. And though i didn't know him well, he seemed like a genuinely nice person and was always super nice when engaged.

I've always thought the Ball & Cone was a pointless trick.

Following on from Jack's link to the Dog in a Box I found this which totally changed my mind

it looked even better up close. The balls from the mouth illusion was the best i've seen it done - by that i mean the illusion of the balls coming from the mouth and into his hand. It looked exactly like the real thing.

(now the best balls from mouth i've seen is imam, but that's a whole different story)

if you ever see lonnie chevrie, ask to see Brown's coin through glass. Another perfect illusion.

I seem to remember reading that Don Alan was very upset with Johnny Brown. Something to do with copying his material. Of course everyone stole Don Alan's material.

Apologies... I purchased from a private seller. No leads to share, but perhaps if you post on the various forums you may have similar luck.

I got one off of the Facebook marketplace and the other from Denny. Just keep your eyes open, they don't come up too often. I've only seen 3 in the last couple years.

FYI: I’m not the seller and don’t know them.

Jack, thanks for sharing the link. I usually get bored in a hurry with routines like this one, but, gosh, Johnny Brown hooked me from the start because of his enthusiastic personality, which appeared to be utterly genuine. Seeing a magician who obviously loves performing and is totally comfortable doing so and having a wonderful time himself is a rare treat for me. This video was mucho fun to watch. Indeed, I'm still chuckling.
