The Clarity Box

Postby David Regal » August 19th, 2013, 4:38 pm

No big sales pitch. This is a clear switching box, and to my mind the best thing I've ever put out as it is so useful. Totally customizable, made of heavy laser-cut acrylic. It can be a card in the box... a bill... a prediction, etc. Sold out at Magic Live, where I did it 100s of times inches from people's faces. Sales pitch over. Here's a link:

Oops... forgot the rule here... the price is $80.

This is really cool, and you can see David perform it on my "More Genii Speaks" video in September's digital Genii.

I saw David do this in the closeup gallery at the Castle and it is absolutely great. There are a few card-to-cannister props that do the same basic job of letting you show the folded card in it, then pour it out, switching the card along the way. This is the best one I've ever seen. The only limitation is that, being clear plastic, it may not be the most elegant prop. But it's the cleanest and most perfect illusion. Bonus: the mechanism is dead simple and very reliable.

Highest recommendation, and not just by me. Take a look at the quotes on David's web page.

Thanks, Pete.

The early test box you saw may indeed have been made of polystyrene, but I eventually rejected that material as being too cheap-looking, and too cheap "feeling." The Clarity Boxes that are being manufactured are made of laser cut acrylic, about twice the weight of the cheaper grade of material. The box honestly has the heft, look and luster of a mini showcase, and it feels great in the hand. I know these may sound like little things, but after I compared the sumptuous acrylic material to the injected polystyrene, there was simply no going back.

Mr Regal - got any UK stockists of this yet? Don't fancy paying an additional 20% tax for the joy of importing...

It is more than 20%.

First the customs take the value of the item plus the cost of shipping.

To that total they add an import tax.

Once that is added they add 20% VAT to that total.

If being sent by post the post office will have an additional charge for collecting the money from you on delivery.

Here's the odd manner in which Clarity Box is rolling out:

a) I have some - that's because the manufacturer got a number to me ahead of Magic Live.

b) Soon Penguin and Hocus-Pocus will have them - they bought the initial run.

c) A second run is in process - one of my goals is to get a quantity to the UK directly from the manufacturer, so international customers might avoid some of those fees.

Hope that helps!

David

David,

I for one will be much more interested in this if we can avoid the expensive shipping fees.

Regards,

Martin.

Just got mine in the mail and it is much nicer than the one David was killing everybody with in the close up gallery. You definitely made the right choice going with the nicer acrylic.

I've been charging the actual cost of Priority International shipping to my overseas customers, but I'm soon going to match my competition and pay for a different method of shipping (so it will be free to purchasers, but slower) - that seems to be what people want.

My son is on it - expect the change in a day or so.

I have sold out of my current stock.

Please go to Penguin Magic or Hocus-Pocus to purchase The Clarity Box - they will have it in stock shortly.

Thanks.

Received in Seattle yesterday afternoon. What a GREAT idea! Carefully constructed and so well thought out. Another winner from Mr. Regal!

Thanks, David!!
