Did the original have a copyright notice?

I believe books published between 1923 through 1977 without a copyright notice are the public domain due to failure to comply with required formalities.

Joe,

I don't know zippo about copyright notices, etc. I know seeing all those crappy Houdini POD's and ebooks on Ebay and thought this was just too new.

If it is anythimg like the new old Houdini titles that are out there, I'll pass.
