Padded Bags for Your Dean's Box to help the Dill Family

Postby Frank Starsinic » December 14th, 2005, 11:15 pm

I'm going to make some Deluxe Padded Suede Bags specifically to hold a Dean's Box.
The bag will be durable and beautiful black suede, padded, lined with red satin and will have my standard ring closure. The colors are meant to match the decore in Dean's Shoppe.

Dean's Box is too nice a prop not to have a nice place to put it on the way to your show or for storage between gigs.

All profits from these for the first 6 months will be sent to Dean to help he and his family recover from their car accident.

Dean will be notified of all the purchases and who helped by purchasing one of these elegant bags. The bags will be $65.

If you're interested in one of these, let me know. I realize it is currently sight-unseen but I'm trying to get this project underway as quickly as I can.

I will have photos as soon as possible. Just trying to get an idea of how many to make in the first batch.

when pictures are available they will be placed on the same page as my other pouches/bags.

I would be interested. I just want to make sure that I understand it correctly that the complete amount of US-$ 65 will go to Dean?

Just to clarify, the cost of these bags I pay is probably in the neighborhood of $45 each. The remainder ($65 - $45 = $20) will go directly to Dean. I am also going to add an additional $5 per bag myself which will bring the total donation up to $25 per bag. I'm also making and paying for a bag for Dean to use.

If they end up being less than $45 to make then that will enable even more to go to dean as well.

Obviously, the more I can get made at one time, the less the bags cost. I'm not interested in making any money on the product (I'm making sure I lose $5 per bag). Just getting the money to Dean.

I hope this sounds fair. I've expresseed the nature of the accident to the person who makes these for me and I'm hoping to get the best deal possible on these.

If someone has a better idea, please share.

I was told that Dean might already market a cover for the Dean's Box so I contacted Dean via email to make sure he was ok with this idea.

He likes the idea. Here's a portion of his reply:

I do not market a cover for the box. I never have. I thought about
it a long time ago but never acted on it. So by you doing it, it may
catch on and we can work together and make it something cool.
The first bag should be done today so I can take photos and check it out to ensure it works ok.

The Dean's Bag is ready to go. You can order them on my website. No more wondering where exactly to put it in your car, and a great donation to Dean and his family.

I let Dean know that he will also be receiving one as well.

Thanks to all of you, we're up to $225 in donations to Dean.

I am also forwarding my e-receipts for payment to Dean back to the purchaser of the Dean's Bag so they can see that Dean is quickly getting their donation.

Any comments that are added to the Paypal payment are also getting forward in Dean's payment as well. So feel free to leave a message for Dean. He'll get it.

Thanks again for making this a continuing success.

This will be my last post of status.
We're up to $400 in donations for Dean thru the sale of the "Dean's Bags". (Actually $410 as someone added an extra $10 for good measure).

As stated earlier, the donations will continue for a total of 6 months.

My thanks to all.

Technically not a status post so here I go... :)

Heres' a snippet from an email Dean sent to me after receiving his Dean's Bag.
Frank,
I received my bag today and it exceeded my expectations. When I put
a box inside and put it together I couldn't believe how great it
looked. The way the ring fits around so perfectly and the box fits
like a glove. Who created this? You? I am amazed. I just showed it
to my wife and she couldn't believe it either. The material is
fantastic. I couldn't find anything wrong at all. Great job. How
can I get a hold of these to sell?
...
Hey Frank, Thanks a lot for everything you have done for us. I wish
you hadn't bought the Box. I would have given you one for all of
this. Please let me know what I can do for you, please.
All my very best, Dean
Thanks again for your support. Up to $500 in donations now.

I got my bag a few days ago. Now I have to retrieve it from my kids so I can put the box in it...

If you don't have a box, get the bag anyway. It's great for storing Barbie dolls. Apparantly.

Take care, Ian
