Alla Axiom aka _____?

Postby Diego » June 6th, 2021, 8:19 pm

I am searching for the performer(s) who used the stage name, "Alla Axiom." There was at least one crystal gazing mentalist and/or illusionist who used this stage name.

Any information/leads anyone might have would be appreciated.

Thanks!

A search on Ask Alexander shows(not in order):

1) He had an early Alexander type act and later a magic act.
2) J. S. Ramsey managed him.
3) Monk Watson worked for a time as his assistant.
4) Gen Grant worked for him.
5) He lived in Seattle for a while.
6) He had a pseudonym Crawford (which he sometimes used as a front man for his own act).

Hope this helps.

The first mention I could find of Alla Axiom from Newspapers.com is 1917 in Tennessee. In this article he is referred to as "Mind reader and Hindoo mystic". He appears in Oriental garb. It goes on to say that he was born in Judea in 1882 and is a graduate of Oxford University and is a student of Southern University of California. It also says his father was killed during the uprising in India. There is much mention of him in the 1920s but none in the 1930 that I could find although he does perform in 1941 in Salinas, California. Hope this helps. Roy McIlwee, Scranton, Penna.

Thanks for looking.

The only reference in Ancestry.com is the resident addresses in Los Angeles (1937) and Seattle (1933) Sometimes you get lucky in sending letters, going to the old addresses....but not only are they almost 90 years old, the neighborhood/demographics has changed a number of times. It does list an Alla R, (sometimes D or K) Axiom and Cecile D. Axiom...listing occupations as salesman or entertainer.
