One more:

Oddly, it rejected several different pictures of Doug before this one. Perhaps the algorithm couldn't genderfy his big mustache and long flowing hair.

No doubt.
It certainly works.
One can't help but feel more of an affinity to these animated creatures.

Re: Magicians come to life!
I've been having fun with this, putting in old family photos, such as this one of my father.
I wasn't sure about that second one you posted ... https://myhr.tg/1wVFnFsC
That's Jeff McBride, right?

I'm only doing deceased magicians. But feel free to try any that you like - It's free for a few pictures before you have to subscribe.
I did run that picture of Richard, and it turned out surprisingly well (I say surprisingly because the process seems to work best with older photos). With his permission, I'll post the link

Re: Magicians come to life!
Peter, thanks for sharing. This is wild. I've been doing old family photos, especially youthful photos of my grandparents. It's really pretty touching to see the photos animated.
I did one of Malini. I tried to do one of Si Stebbins but the photo wasn't good enough.
If you want to see something a bit creepy, try Billy the Kid. The photo from the Wikipedia entry is a good image to use. Yikes.

Now, here's creepy. I've had a mannequin for about 25 years and to see its face animate is almost too much. Her name is Paris, after the plaster. We may have to break up. She just has to give me time to pack.

I have come to realize that the above link only works for me and only when I am logged in to the MyHeritage site.
I assure you that the woman you see when you click on the link is not my father ...

Brad, it doesn't work to just copy the url at the top of the browser. Instead, when viewing the animation, click on the share icon and then "copy link" in the pop-up menu to get the url you can then share.

Colorization is debatable, but still impressive:

So let's see, a site *that collects DNA* and brings photos to life...you do the math.

I think it depends on the image. It worked for me on Charlie McCarthy (weird), Mona Lisa, George Washington, the King of Hearts (neato), and Alfred E. Newman.

No one is required to submit a DNA sample to use the photo service.

Just pointing out the kind of data they're collecting as a company. It's pretty interesting what the hedge fund who bought Ancestry is planning to do with "their" DNA...

Re: Magicians come to life!
The computer program makes a still into a shallow fake. Not sure it's up to animating Lincoln to reenact the Gettysburg Address.
It's a thing. As is webcam eye motion tracking. Consider such pictures in books animated to help teach. Online could offer checking the difference between a video and an "ideal" as teaching tool.
* The newspaper images in the Harry Potter movies were animated

Not at all interested in animations of people who already exist in moving pictures. But DeLand, Robert-Houdin, Edgar Allen Poe ... these are the ones that fascinate me.

Re: Magicians come to life!
I think David Regal's FB animation was the best.
