visiting British magician in Japan around in 1908

Does someone know who this magician is?
He appeared in Tokyo Japan around 1908 and formed a magicians’ troupe with local Japanese magicians, males and females. They were received well.
According to some Japanese newspapers, he was reported as a British magician and his name seems something like Barre, Verle, Valley, etc.
Unfortunately, I failed to attach his photo.

Charles Bertram?
He was British, visited several Japanese cities as Tokyo, Yokohama, Kyoto, Kobe...
However he passed away in 1907; are you sure about the year?
Other candidates:
L. H. Branson, or Wild Goldston, but I don't really know if they visited Japan.
