a Houdini movie mystery

Postby Bill Mullins » May 17th, 2013, 4:01 pm

Here (Winona MN Republican-Herald) and here (Gettysburg Times) are two Dec 1920 advertisements for Houdini appearing in the film "Marked Woman".

Much of the cast listed in the MN ad appears in the 1919 Houdini serial "The Master Mystery" -- but it is a 15 reel serial, and the PA ad says that "Marked Woman" is a 5 reel feature. (although Charles E Davis and Bill Franey dont' appear in any cast lists for "Master Mystery" that I can find).

I can only guess that "Marked Woman" is "Master Mystery", trimmed down into a single movie.

Wow, sensational find, Bill! I suspect you are correct. This appears to be The Master Mystery recut into a feature. Although there are some names that I don't recognize from MM, so maybe it was mixed with footage from other movies as well?

Would love to share this discovery on blog, if that's okay? With credit to you and the Genii forum, of course.
