Origin of Abracadabra

Found this out on the web. Thought it interesting.

"The magic word "Abracadabra" was originally intended for the specific purpose of curing hay fever."

Abracadabra is a reforming of the word Abrahadabra. Which in Aramaic translates closely to "I will create as I speak."

A great reference book, in my opinion, is Magic Words: A Dictionary. Written by magician and eccentric scholar Craig Conley. You'll find it at Amazon, more info at Craig's website http://www.mysteryarts.com
