lost books?

Postby Jacky Kahan » January 15th, 2006, 1:34 am

On another thread Richard mentioned Edward Victor's fourth book (unpublished) at Davenports & Lost Book of Harbin.

I was wondering if there are many known unpublished books? if yes which and where are they?

thanks

There was a faro manuscript that Alex Elmsley and someone else had collaborated on (I can't remember the other guy's name, but the story I'm citing is from one of the Elmsley books). If I recall the story correctly, Roy Walton may have a copy, otherwise the manuscript is presumed lost.

Nectar of the Cards is another one that comes up often.

Ten for Ten by Michael Skinner (I talked about this on another thread, and it would seem most of the contents were eventually published elsewhere).

Steranko's second book is a famous one. Completed but never published. There are copies floating out there.

Gene Maze wrote a book in the late 1950s or early 1960s that was never published.

I wrote a book for IBM Ring 20 in Manhattan that was never published (and some of the material in it remains unpublished--but I can't remember what it is since I don't have a copy).

Racherbaumer's Breaking the Circle and Letters to Hofzinser remain unpublished.

And of course the Jack Liuso book was never published, either.

I believe Richard Osterlind sold a manuscript to Micky Hades about 25 years ago that was never published.

There is also the Henry Christ material that was handed over to a "Particularly Devilish" individual (RK's quote).

Another lost title...

In EPOPTICA #4 (June 1983), Jeff Busby referred to a number of publishing projects that he had 'in the works'.

One of those referred to was "The Innovative Card Magic of Hideo Kato".

Gone ???

Jon Racherbaumer has sometimes referred to an unpublished manuscript featuring the card magic of Don May.

Perhaps Jon can provide some details.

Where to begin? Racherbaumer's treatise on Robert Walker effects (a follow-up to "Tricks from the Tree"), Joe Rindfleisch's "Extreme Close Up" (edited by me, never published), Ken Simmons's "Guarded Secrets Revealed," Leo Behnke's "Houdini School of Magic," Matt Sedlak's "MATT," and a certain publisher's "Annotated Hofzinser" and "Collected Cardiste."

That's just the stuff I've been around or personally involved in!
