William Lindsay Gresham 1909 - 1962

61 years ago today in The Dixie Hotel in New York City,
William Lindsay Gresham choose to end his life there, rather than
put himself and his wife thru his dying of a dibilitating terminal diagnosis.

Dr. Ian Ellis-Jones of Sydney, Australia has written a detailed page of Gresham's
life, work, and family history, for the Find a Grave website, which can also be found
on the William Lindsay Gresham FaceBook Page, courtesy of Dr. Jones.

A dedicated research has written a full biography of Gresham which will hopefully be published.

The top link above brings it to you. The latest post on the Gresham FB pages also shows photos taken on the 20th floor of the former Dixie, now named The Carter Hotel.
Years ago I thought of staying in the hotel Gresham had spent time meeting with other magicians/writers and working on his own projects.
Researching the hotel...it had been rated: "The dirtiest hotel in New York City", THREE YEARS in a row.
I sought other accommodations.
