When to renew?

Hello,
I'd like to ask a question for which I did not find an answer as I checked for information. When I am supposed to renew (actually make it longer) my subscription? First when the current one finishes or some time before that? How does this exactly work?

Your last issue of Genii will come with a printed sheet of paper that says: This is your last issue of Genii! You need to renew again!
