"No current subscription" error

Just thought I'd ask here to see if anyone else has experienced this issue. On my iphone and iPad I will open the app and be sent to a page that recognizes me, but says I don't have a current subscription. My current subscription is good through 2016. Because of this error, I am unable to read any issues of the magazine through the app currently. I've deleted the app and uploaded the app again with the same result. It's odd because I've been looking at several issues in the app over the last several weeks and just started experiencing this. Any ideas?

Several of us have had this problem over the last several months. Usually, deleting the app and downloading it again solves the problem, although any previously downloaded issues are not retained on the device. Since installing the iOS 8.1.3 I have not re-experienced this problem on my iPad 2.

At one time I believed the different versions of the iOS were causing some incompatibility, but I cannot verify that. There are a couple of other threads here about this. Mr. Kaufman will likely ask you to call the Genii office if you cannot resolve the problem.

I have some issues with my iPhone app. Have needed to upgrade to the latest version of iOS, and am doing that now (thanks, Bill).

Richard, are you operating on the latest version of iOS?

Thanks, I didn't see other threads on this topic after a quick scan. It may very well be that I don't have the latest os

I still get this issue regularly on the android app.

I just upgraded my OS and it seems to be working.

After stating yesterday that I had had no problem since updating the OS on my iPad, guess what? I got the "no active subscription error" again today.

This happened to me away from home when I logged onto a wifi hotspot. I recall that this happened the last time at the same place (a car dealership.)

I am wondering if the app looks at IP addresses to determine if the login is legitimate? If that is the problem, then I think the programmers need to change that. After all, the reason for downloading issues is to be able to read them in tother locations.

The app does not shut you out if your IP changes.

I'm pushing the company and our people to find a solution to this issue.

I just bought a new phone with Android and have the same problem: "No current subscription". I hope it can be fixed soon.

I believe this problem has been fixed, but I need some of you who are having this issue to test it out.

Please delete the app and then reload it.

See if it works without that screen coming up that locks you in place on your account page.

I've tested it over the past few hours on my iPhone and the app now seems to work fine.

Let me know if it works for you.

I've reinstalled the android app. Sometimes it takes a few days for the problem to manifest, so I'll see what happens.

Good, please let me know. The fix was made at our end, not to any of the apps, so it should work across all devices.

Sorry to report:

I have uninstalled and re-installed the apps on both my iPad2 and my Samsung Note 3 (Android) phone and neither works. I no longer get the "no current subscription" error, but the app loops to an intro page that tells me that I am currently logged in and to click on the button on the upper right to log out. The little button to close that window is located in the same spot as that button, which is bad enough, but even closing that window does no good.

The app will take me to a blank screen. On the iPad, if I click on "Issues" at the bottom of the screen, I will see the thumbnails for the issues. Clicking on a thumbnail, I end up with the intro page again. On the Android device, I don't even get the thumbnails.

In short, I am completely without digital access except on my desktop computer.

Bummer.

added: I will happily make a short video of the process and post it for download if that will help anyone to see what I am describing.

Bill, when you reach the very first page you describe, have you tried tapping the orange box that says, "Sign Out," and after you are brought to the sign-in page, then signing in again? I did that and it works for me. Let me know.

No, i just tried that and it signs me out, putting up the "Sign in" page again.

If I tap the little circle with an 'X', which is on top of the "Sign Out" box, it takes me to a blank page with the app links at the bottom (Flip. Pages, Contents, etc.)

If I tap the "issues" button at the bottom, I will actually see the thumbnails for the issues, but clicking on any thumbnail simply loops back to the page with the "Sign Out" button. A vicious cycle.

I won't hazard any more guesses as to what is going on as I have been wrong every time.

Bill, what happens if you sign in again? You should then be brought to the cover of the current issue. That's not what you see?

No, I tried signing in twice, three times, and a fourth. It just loops back to the same screen. I never see an actual magazine page.

What is most curious to me is why are only a few of us affected by these anomalies? I had thought that updating the OS might be the cause or the cure, but that seems to have been eliminated.

Thank you for your efforts to get this fixed. Hopefully it will happen before my next trip.

I had the same problem as Bill previously.
I also now appear to be experiencing the new problem.

In addition, I'm also prevented from signing on to the Forum on my iPad.
Username unknown apparently which is bollocks.

Becoming rather tiresome.

I don't know if this is related, but I don't see my subscription information anymore when I check my account. I'm doing this from my PC.

The tech folks at my end think this problem has been fixed. They can no longer duplicate it.
Bill, Chris, Andrew, please delete and reinstall the app (phone and tablet) and see if it works for you.

I've had good luck with sporadic use over the past week, but will reinstall again for further testing.

Sorry. Neither my iPad 2 nor my Note 3 acts any different than my earlier description. I do not know what changed things, but until this condition existed at least I was able to uninstall, reinstall, and have access. As it stands now, I cannot access iGenii on either mobile device.

One more data point..I am a fairly new subscriber with an iPhone 6 running iOS 8.1.3. Except for a brief period last evening, after login, the app goes straight to a white page that says "Hello Mark, you are curr..(rest cut off) Click on the button above to s..(rest cut off). The blue and orange Genii banner is also seen. Swipe in any direction or rescales shows nothing more (i.e. no control buttons are available).

If your phone allows it, try opening the app in landscape mode. I was only able to see the appropriate buttons that way. Annoying, but it worked.

Hi Chris
Thanks for the suggestion. If I just rotate the phone the app does reorient showing slightly more text from the same screen but still no buttons.

We're at the point where we can no longer duplicate the problem. In other words, it appears from our end that it's fixed, but it obviously isn't.

So, if any of you folks who are still having this trouble can make a little movie of it and send it to me (or send me a link to download it) at moobooks@verizon.net that would be greatly appreciated.

You've got mail (with screenshots) Richard.

Seems like the two important buttons "read" "log out" are being blocked in portrait mode.

Close the app completely, rotate the screen to "landscape" and try running the app again (in landscape mode). Maybe it'll show the whole line (with buttons) that way.

Still no joy for me.

I can get as far as selecting an issue then I'm taken back to the initial screen.

Some screen dumps on the way from me.

A.

Thanks to Bill's video and Andrew's screen grabs, we have a much clearer picture of the problem now and should be able to fix it this week.

Thanks for your patience!

It's now 100% broken for me. Tells me to "press x to read" forces me to quit the app which then reboots to the same place. Endless loop. Nothing seems to be working for me now. Just no access at all beyond the login screen.

Chris, the endless loop problem now exists for many of us. In trying to fix it, something else has been broken. WORKING ON IT (and it's costing me quite a bit to fix!).
