I have no idea. I was told that there would be one forthcoming in May, but so far not.

Who's the responsible of the process?
Is that something "out of your control"?

I don't own either at the moment, but looking around the internet it appears they are two different Operating Systems.

iPad = iOS and iMac =OS X.

Not really sure how a touch screen interface would run on an iMac anyway.

It does look like Apple is in the process of trying to figure out a way to bring the app store to the Mac though.

The iPad app only works on an iPad.

Use Safari on your iMac to login.

(just to correct Joe's research, the Mac App Store has been around for months. It's right there under the Apple menu in Mac OS X.)

Safari on your iMac will work great, Fabio, and you already have it installed.

I haven't had many requests: three to be exact. Considering what it will cost us, it isn't cost effective yet.

It's a proprietary format. If you're using an android tablet, you can view it through your browser by logging in normally.

Back off, fanboi. The Androids are massing.

Or, to put it another way, we're huddled in a corner, grumbling.

Grumbling about how you wish you had an iPad?

:)

Seriously though, as soon as a company starts offering publishers the same split to make an app for free for them I am sure RK will hop on it.

You can read the digital issues on the Nook color--I checked. You need to login through the browser. I'm sorry that audio and video don't work, but you can read the electronic version of the magazine.

Ditto for any Android tablet: login through the browser.

I should add that adding an Android app will do nothing for either Kindle or Nook users.

Richard,

I can't put my finger on the post but I thought I read somewhere else in the forum that an iGenii Android app was on the way.

Is this still true and is there an ETA?

I know I can login using the browser it would just be less cumbersome.

Thanks.

Robert

Has the Android app been released yet? In the March Genii it says it's available.

The app is buggy and will be fixed shortly.
There is a workaround to get the videos to play.
Open the issue.
Touch the bottom of the page and a menu bar appears.
Touch "Menu" and a new menu will open.
Touch "Video" and a new menu will open. Unfortunately the videos aren't labelled (though they are when I submit them), but if you tap the film frame icon on the far right of each one, it will play full screen.

Hey Richard,

Just a heads up: The videos had titles when I read the March issue this weekend on my Nexus 7. I didn't think to retest the buttons on the pages but will try them again later. The titles helped alot.

Anyways,I thought you might wnat to know.
Thanks for another great issue.

Same as for "Ask Alexander" to get into the Genii archives.

Okay: for Android users who want to watch the videos in thr March issue, tap "Menu" and a menu will open at the bottom. Tap "More" and another menu will open. Tap "Video" and the videos will come up. They now have the labels I put on them, but these labels were not designed for you, so I will put more specific labels on them starting with the April issue.

Is there an update to the Android app coming soon?

I just tried it for the first time with the new issue, and it is almost impossible to read an entire article - it crashed part way through Silly Billy's rant about mentalism, and that was after restarting.

And it got into a recursive loop after watching one video; I had to shut the tablet down because there was no other way to get out of the error messages popping up over and over as the app restarted and crashed.

I've sent a few of the error messages off to the app publisher, via Google Play, but it looks like Genii Corporation is listed as the publisher, so they should be forwarded to the actual software developer.

Richard, do you have any info on an update?

Jeff

Jeff, I have not had any of those problems, but I do not doubt that you have. The company that my printer uses for electronic editions, BlueToad, puts out a buggy product before it's ready and lets the customers find all the bugs. Not a good way to do business and I apologize for that.

I know that they are working on an update for the app that addresses all the known issues, but I cannot get a release date out of them. It's possible that there was a hiccup when you downloaded the issue. I would delete it and download it again.

I've also been having bad luck with each issue on my Samsung Android Tablet. Crashes all the time when trying to download and when playing videos (after finally able to get it). I too have been hitting the "report" button.

Richard, thanks for the honest reply. I've been in software for years and I understand the position you're in. Here's hoping that BlueToad gets it together and puts out an update soon.
