Rumours about FISM 2006

Five months from now the FISM 2006 convention in Stockholm is already on its second day.

At the resent convention in Las Vegas several magicians told our head organizer Christer El Duco Gustavsson that they thought the convention was sold out (due to another tread in the Genii forum where Richard Kaufman stated that the convention was sold out).

To make all of you happy:

The FISM 2006 convention is NOT SOLD OUT.

True is that we have more than 2200 registered magicians to date.
The venue FISM will be held at is a very large convention fair. The main theatre, the Victoria Hall, seats 2000 people.
We have decided to show the Nordic Opening Show and the Gala Show twice so that everybody can see the show live.
Well have "open seats" for the competitions.
The final show cannot be repeated, as it is the juried performance of the finalists for the world championship. Those people registering from now on will view the final show on a giant screen in the Dante Room, which seats 800 people in comfort.

That means we have room for a lot more magicians. As for now we have a stop when we reach 4000 registered magicians. For the final show; If we reach more than 2800 we will move the big screen to a larger hall.

Please spread the word!

Finally, If you have any questions about FISM 2006 you can visit our website at www.fism.com and ask questions at our on-line forum. Also; Try the Quiz and learn more about Stockholm at http://www.fism.com/quiz

Oh, just one more thing: We just added Bill Malone (comming in instead of Michael Weber) and Max Maven to our line-up.

Yes. Michael Weber was booked initially but he didn't return his contract to us even after several phone calls and e-mails and sending of new contract etc. So we had to find a replacement and we think Bill Malone will fit the bill perfectly instead of Weber.

I have been unable to locate a thread where I stated that FISM was "sold out." In fact, I know it's not sold out, so I don't know why he thinks I said that.
Here is what I did write on another thread: "The main hall where the galas are being held holds 2,000 people (I think it's about that number). So, anyone who registers and is above that number will be in an adjoining room with video monitors."
This was immediately corrected in the very next post where it was explained that the shows (except the final gala and one other) would be performed twice.

Sorry Richard about this.
The thing is that almost all who spoke to Christer "El Duco" Gustavsson at the Las Vegas convention referred to what you wrote at your forum. They all thought - because of that and not fully understanding what you wrote - that the FISM 2006 was sold out.

That is why I felt it was important to make everything clear.
